? Using U-40 syringe for bupe shots (conversion question)

Looks like I ordered the wrong box of syringes for shooting bupe SubQ (Monoject U-40 1ml 28Gx1/2").

But according to this conversion chart, am I correct that 8units in this U-40 syringe will be equal to .20cc of bupe?

Do you have any old "correct" syringes? If so, measure water in "correct" syringe and take the plunger out of the U-40 syringe and squirt the water into it. It will be close enough to double check the dose.

 

What syringe were you supposed to get? I may have some U-40 syringes here and I have some syringes the gave me for administering bupe orally (might be the same for sub-q?)

 

I had a few Monojects 1ml Tuberculin 28G x 1/2" syringes that a nurse gave me (doesn't specify U-40 or U-100). Used the .2 line on them. I ordered 2 boxes of what I thought would be the same thing, but the cartridge is definitely wider and says U-40. Conversion table shows .8 on a U-40 will equal .2ml on a U-100 (I think).

 

This is what I have. Why are you trying to convert to U40? Why not just use the U100 syringe you use for insulin?

Is the above the same as what you you are suppose to dose with? If so, what is the sub-q dose?

 

Sub-q is .2ml or 20units in an insulin syringe, but vet said needle is too narrow on insulin syringes and can cause problems with bruising trying to shoot a thicker liquid than insulin thru such a small opening. Adequan is even thicker and I use a 25ga needle for that. 28ga seemed to work fine for bupe. I will do the water trick you mentioned to see if 8u on a u-40 is 20u on a U-100
