There is plenty of info regarding holding a dose and holding an increased dose.

Can someone tell me how long I should be holding the reduced dose?
ie: Cat earns first reduction, on that reduction dose 48 hours later, cat "earns" another reduction.
Can reductions be made that quickly without consequences?

I realize this: "Alternatively, at each newly reduced dose... try to make sure kitty maintains numbers in the normal range for seven days before reducing the dose further."

I understand ideally, that changes should be made slowly by "shaving" the dose. However, does anyone have experience with making quick reductions?

    Some background:
The reason we have not adjusted or reduced her dose is because she has been on and off pred throughout the last month due to a severe allergy. The pred spikes her BG and makes it unpredictable (the pred is why she is here in the first place, unfortunately). Until she is completely weaned from the pred and on her new medication we could not predict what her normal is/will be.
Because her pred is now only once/twice a week, we are getting a better picture as to what her true "normal" is and now I am safe to start making reductions as necessary.

You didn't take reduction on 8/14, 8/15 or 8/19. Is there a reason for that? On AT under 68 is automatic reduction

However some times they do barrel down quickly. I don't know what say for today though. Others can advise to that.

I suppose I could have included this as a background:

I understand making it tougher to earn reductions with the pred in the picture. I have done that with Jones.

As his pred dose decreased he ran down the dosing ladder quickly. As his pred dose increased we went up to meet the increased BG's but now we are coming back down again to a dose close to when he was on a lower dose of pred. He would earn reductions within 4-6 cycles. If I wasn't sure if we should reduce I would hold the dose for another cycle....he always proved to me that he wanted the reduction. I use a modified SLGS approach btw.

I would take the reduction. If the reduction fails...just go back up again.
