This is insane! I was hoping to be able to order more cat food online to have it delivered to me over the winter in times of really rough/bad weather so I wouldn't be in the lurch but could I be READING this right?

The packs of 12/24/30 are cheaper than my local grocery (Giant Eagle) on Walmart.com but for the individual 3oz. cans of FF, $1.48 a 3oz can?! It's $.65 cents at the grocery!

I'd be better off with Friskies, it's cheaper than even at my grocery by about $.8! Only for the packs though, their 5.5oz cans are also $1.48 but at grocery it's $.55 - but at least I could get the bigger 13oz. cans.

Plus they have Special Kitty, 9Lives and Sheba .. can I ask where all of you get your food from? Online stores like this, Chewy, local brick and mortar stores, etc. and what do you do/plan for bad weather?

It seems like highway robbery, I swear to god - if it wasn't for "free shipping over X-amount" it wouldn't be worth it whatsoever, but I like having backup plans since my area can go easy or ridiculous in winter.

I know I've seen a lot of threads about food but not necessarily about price, where to buy, etc. Any help would be appreciated, thanks so much!

Where are you getting that Wal-Mart price? I just looked at the Purina Fancy Feast Classic Chicken Feast Collection Cat Food 12-3 oz. Cans, and it shows $6.72 $0.56 / each.

UPDATE: Oh, I see you are talking about SINGLE CANS. Well, of course they are going to charge you a lot if you buy a single can. That's a lot of processing for them to send somebody one can.

Ooh no the pack collections are great, but not all of the flavors my cats like are contained in them - so I'd have to buy some singles, which Walmart.com lists as $1.48 for a 3oz can. Thankfully most of my bulk buying would be pack cans, but to make sure I had some "add ins" in times of finicky eating/break up some monotony, uuggh. What to do? :/

yeah i was a bit shocked to see walmarts online FF price, thought it was a temporary typo but, guess not. in their store they are still the normal .57-.59 cents per can.

I buy from chewy most times but, also buy from target online when they have their monthly spend blah blah on pet supplies and get $5/$10 gift card or when we need the ff beef and chicken pate that is a lot cheaper than buying it on chewy and amazon that have been charging 75 cents per can for last couple of months instead of the normal .57-.60 for some reason.. usually target online is where i end up with the best deal overall if i soend at least $35 to get free shipping.

edit: forgot to mention, the downfall of ordering cans from target is that they don't come in cases! so sometimes i end up with dented ones and have to peel off their price scan stickers off each can.

I order cases of Fancy Feast from chewy.com. The price per can is similar to the supermarket, but it's more convenient. I live in a small, rural town and I can't always find Cleo's preferred varieties of Fancy Feast here.

I buy most of my canned foot at Publix Supermarket. Their store brand of 3 oz. gourmet [Chicken Entree, Liver & Chicken, Turkey & Giblets, and Salmon] is 50 cents per can, cheaper than FF but similar in ingredients. The chicken and salmon both have fish or fish broth added. They all have liver and guar gum. I'm starting to think liver may be becoming a problem as I swear Bama's poops smell like liver. Maybe that's why he's less enthused lately about eating. Smells the same coming out as it does going in. :woot:

If you have Aldi nearby, their chicken entree is a dead ringer for the Publix brand. Both Aldi's and Publix's brands say they are made or packaged in Canada.

Oh gosh I have to watch that with Mao, anything with "liver" - he doesn't seem to mind it but I can ALWAYS tell when he's "used the box" afterwards, ugh.

But yeah I think there's.. 3? Aldi's around me, the main one I know about is "at the mall", across the street from the main complex and PetSmart or PetSuppliesPlus, I forget which one we have since it's about a 20 min. drive so I don't head out there all that often but I'll definitely check it out. Been meaning to anyway since they keep sending me fliers in the mail every week, LOL.

I've ordered cases of Fancy Feast from Amazon and from Target.com. Both had good prices. :)

Oh good to hear, they're next on my list to check out. I've been going through Walmart.com and bookmarking everything in it's own folder so I'll do that with Chewy and these others too - thanks so much!

Do you have a BJs Wholesale Club near you? I can get a 48 can pate variety pack of Friskies for about $21 and they have FF 36 packs for about the same, maybe a dollar or 2 more. I know they carry the FF seafood pate variety pack and I believe they also have the poultry and beef pate variety pack as well. If you don't have a BJ's maybe try a Costco?

Man I wish I lived west of the Mississippi. :banghead: No, no BJs and no Costco - not sure what BJ's equivalent would be in my area but as opposed to Costco we have Sam's Club? I'll have to note this down to research further - thanks so much, those prices sound.. well, awesome!
