I put Girlie's new blood test results up on her labs report section of her SS. Her BUN is down (from 18.8 to 16.1), but her Creatinine (280) and SDMA (25) have gone up. Her phosphorous, though is still good at 1.1. Her WBC is low at 5.0, though.

She still drinks lots of water from her beloved fountain. One thing I have noticed recently is that she'll go to the litterbox, try to wee, nothing will come out, and then she'll scrape up as if it has. It usually takes her a little while for the wee to come out normally: usually I can count up to 30 before she wees.

I asked Marje about it, and she thought it could be UTI or Sterile interstitial cystitis due to stress. The only stress factors I can think of, though, are ongoing pain issues with arthritis and my being away for about two weeks in February and again at the end of July.

I'm not feeling very positive about a new vet, so I'm hoping to go in armed with info before I let him give her meds or tests that aren't necessary or - the reverse - for me to ask for meds or tests even if he doesn't want to do them. Pushy mom that I am! :)

Atta girl! You are her advocate. Just try not to come off antagonistic or belligerent - you catch more flies with honey than with vinegar! ;)

    Sending good pee vines!

I have to bring along a virtual honey supply: I'm much more of a vinegar girl, especially when they say things like ("Why not just take her off insulin altogether now?" or "Just give her 1 unit once a day" or "you can't give a cat a drop of insulin" or "why test so much?") - sigh - and that always lands me in hot water! As far as diabetes goes, I just try to smile and ignore them altogether. I have yet to meet a vet here in Sydney who is sensible about feline diabetes: can you believe it? Sad, but true. :banghead:

    Thank you so much, Lizzie!

I did ask Marje to look at the lab results, but I was curious whether anyone else had had a case of Sterile interstitial cystitis due to stress and how they dealt with it. What a mouthful!
