I know low carb is under 10%. What percentage range would cover medium carb and under what circumstances would you use a medium carb and when would you go for the high carb? I’m looking to add some medium carb to my arsenal for steering a curve, if necessary. Thanks for your input.

I can't specifically answer your question as to medium and high carb. I have leftover Temptations Treats. I stopped giving them to any of the cats. I use them if glucose low. They must be Very high in carbs as blood sugar really shoots up. First time I freaked out over low glucose I gave 40! Don't do that! Now I just give 3-5 if I am worried or need to leave the house and can not monitor.

I have Kyro syrup, and 6 cans of "FF gravy lovers" which is supposed to be high carbs for emergencies - if I could guess on Dr. Lisa's list, medium would be 11 - 20% carbs (my emergency stash maybe?), HIGH would be 20-35% carbs. Not sure what this would be?

I've used those treats to get them to eat, on rare occasion.

I think medium would be between 10-15% (I wouldn't go over this % to steer a cycle because I think you risk getting it too high) I would consider above 20% high carb and good for my emergency stash I did used to keep one about 32% (usually kiddney diets are around this number ) for really low numbers or extreme divings Babu liked to do (he's a world champion diver)

I agree with Veronica. I use FF gravy lovers for steering. The 15% carb flavors I consider MC for steering, since they don't have quite the impact as the 20% carb flavor does. So I consider MC to be 10-15% carbs, and HC to be 20% carbs or higher. You'll find what works for steering and what works best for those deep dives for your kitty.

The ranges Veronica and Amanda have posted are a great place to start.

However, ECID (every cat is different). What's considered high carb, medium carb, or low carb will vary depending on the carb sensitivity of the cat. I've seen some cats require around 23-26% for high carb food. On the other hand, I've seen carb sensitive kitties whose caregivers give foods with around 10% carbs as high carb.

There's some experimenting involved in finding what works for your cat.
