    Hello,

Vet is starting to work with us pretty well. Is liking that I am home testing, even though he was against it at first. Told me he'll have me test and do curves at home and just report to him. Saves me a lot of money, thank goodness!

Anyway... we had his appointment on the 29th, the 30th is when he said start the 1u every 12hrs. I noticed he does listen to what I have to say pretty well. He told me to email him in 7 to 14 days with his numbers again. I know we aren't at a full week just yet but I noticed Harley, since the 30th, is staying at a 370s - 330s. Doing the SLGS method when I email him would I recommend increasing his dose to 1.25 units...?

    Thanks

Good to see that twice a day dosing happening now. And that the vet is agreeing with what you are doing. :)

If after 7 days at this dose, and you don't see anything below 150, you would increase to 1.25 units.

I notice that in the morning of the 30th you mention a furshot in the remarks. Could you put FS (for fur shot) in the units column? That makes is easy for us to see that he didn't get his full dose that morning.

How is the transition to canned food going?

How are you doing getting the kibble out of his diet? As long as that's in there, you're going to have a lot more trouble getting his BG under control.

Also, you pretty much test often enough to do TR but before you can do TR you have to be feeding only a canned or raw diet.

TR gives you a better chance at remission because you don't have to hold the dose longer than 3 days if it's not getting him where you want him.

    Just something to consider

I would like to! I think I will go read how to use the sheets again because when I try to put anything else besides BG numbers in the column it does not change to its appropriate color. (I realize now that this doesn't matter for the units given, but I still would like to add stuff to the testing columns sometimes).

Going alright, the past 3 days he has had small kibble and wet in the AM, only wet for lunch, and kibble for dinner. Just ordered all of Novembers food in for the full month, all canned.

Also, thank you about the info of TR. I will look more into that when I make the full switch coming up here.

If you add anything other than a number to a cell, you have to color code it manually. It won't do it for you.

Go to the top and click on the icon that looks like a small paint can tipping over and you can choose the appropriate color for the number.

Vet being so communicative and listening to you is really great! since you are doing the switch now, you will start seeing better numbers, hopefully. So by the time these 14 days have passed, with the food change, hopefully there wont be need for an increase! Good luck!
