On Monday I took Jaxa in and the Vet told us after a UA that she had a UTI. They gave her a shot and sent us home with amoxicillin, which she has been on for 3.5 days now. I have read about how antibiotics sometimes cause upset stomach, so it is not too surprising that she doesn't want to eat her wet food at the moment and only wants her dry (she has always disliked wet); however, the wet food is how I deliver the majority of her supplements.

Would it be so bad to skip her Fortiflora and Slippery Elm bark for a week while we do this course of antibiotics- would they even work as well with antibiotics? I can put one on her dry and shake it up but I don't think it would work for both and I have been throwing away the wet food every morning after it has sat out all night. I am not stopping the b12- that she gets separately from most of the wet food and she is still willing to eat it so far. If antibiotics can kill good gut bacteria I just don't know if it is more important to keep the fortiflora or if it gets canceled out anyway.

I still have some from her pancreatitis but I'm not sure she needs it; she is eating her dry food. It is entirely possible that she just doesn't like the Weruva pate and NutriSource pate flavors that I have tried giving her recently- the Fancy Feast pate is high in phos so we temporarily switched to something new in hopes that it was "healthier" and she has tasted the wet but then not wanted to eat more. She is getting as many calories as she needs; the Vet actually wants us on Satitety Royal Canin food (which is like 28% carb and if anything like other RC is giant kibble)- she needs to lose weight asap.

I've looked at those, but haven't bought one yet. If it turns out that we have kidney issues I will definitely buy one to mix with her wet food, but right now it feels like I keep buying things in anticipation of maybe needing it and then it goes to waste. I have tinkle tonic and methigel set aside, but I hate piling on stuff as she is on her meds.
