    Yesterday

I think my subject line says it all.

I have absolutely no idea what's going on with China's numbers!!

Going to start a new pen tonight just in case but I don't see the insulin just "all the sudden" going bad....I'd expect to see numbers trend up, not just jump up like this!

    Any ideas??

Option 1 - furshot, option 2 - failed reduction as numbers starting drifting up after the larger depot wore off, option 3 - any food changes other than the Primal beef/salmon fiasco? I notice she threw up a week before that. Got any idea why? GI upset/inflammation can increase numbers.

China - quit foolin' around, get back to the lagoon!

No furshot….that would be the easy answer (although I wouldn't want to think her depot would poop out that quickly either). Failed reduction was one of my first thoughts, but she was 55 yesterday....No other food changes (yet)

And other than the pukus with the Primal, and that one day last week (when we were both sick), she's been eating and acting fine

That's what's so maddening about these sudden high (for China) numbers!...there's really no good reason (that I can figure out anyway)

Hopefully it's the insulin...started a new pen tonight

LagoonMeisterin China: back to the lagoon, please!

Sometimes these things just happen. It could be the lingering effect of the stomach virus. It could be that she misses her RadCat and that the RadCAt had some mysterious effect in keeping her numbers down.
I guess the insulin could have pooped out early. When did you open it? Any electrical problems in your house that could have messed with your 'fridge? The furnace??

I hope you get to the bottom of it all. In the meantime, don't stress. The LagoonMeisterin is gonna be just fine!

Sorry for the higher numbers. I hope you can figure out what is going on and China gets back to surfing in the lagoon. :bighug::bighug::bighug:

    Fine....no change

She's still eating RadCat….at least for a few more days. I'm on my last big tub...although if I can get my son's friend in KC to come down this weekend, I bought 6 medium size tubs (if I remember right) over the phone and he went and picked it up.....so hopefully I'll push back the big change a little while longer.

I am going to run to Columbia this weekend (well, maybe I'll drive...it is 90 miles away) and pick up a bag of the new Natures Variety Signature medallions. She used to eat NV until I switched to RadCat for the eggshell calcium versus bone, but at some point, I'm going to have to change. I just hope she'll still eat it.

I'm also considering making my own, but finding the time (and freezer space) is an issue.

I just made two weeks worth of food at a time. Took hardly any room in the freezer, especially if already storing raw. Mix meat, premix, water and stir. Done. Most time consuming part is measuring out amounts to mix and store. I have a kitchen scale that helped with that.

I was going to try Rad Cat but I just read they closed their company? My Kitties were raised on a raw meat diet But about 2 yrs ago (before Ravan got sick) my 3 cats refused to eat their raw food?

I tried everything.None would eat it if I added ANY supplements! They'd eat the Plain raw meat But if I even added a pinch of anything they refused! They still get Raw meat & some canned food But I give them supplements In a syringe. I can't figure out what made them stop eating?

I recently tried Food Fur Life. The first time I got a sample packet & mixed it as directed & added a tiny bit to their raw meat. All 3 gobbled it up & 30 mins later they all vomited! I tried again a month later, just adding a pinch of the powder to their food & again they vomited!

Do you have any suggestions? Ideas of what I could try?

If I can get the company to get my account figured out, I'm going to try Darwins Selections. I tried to order their sample pack Tuesday evening and as of today, they still can't find my account.

@Krystina & Nelli ordered some on Wednesday and got hers today!! She told me it looks a lot like RadCat. The main difference I know of is that Darwins uses ground bone where RadCat used egg shells for calcium.

I'm also going to see if she'll eat Natures Variety Instinct Signature ….she used to eat their chicken medallions but they've changed their formula since then so I don't know how she's going to react to it.

Ravan has Kidney disease so he needs Low phosphorus. Darwins is out! When I used to make their food I saved the egg shells & ground them up in a blender for the calcium.

Thanks for the info I check out the other product you mentioned.

@JoyBee&Ravan …..Darwins also has a food called "Intelligent Design" but it has to be vet prescribed.

The phosphorus levels are a lot better.

If China actually likes it, I may go in this direction.

    Nelli loves it... YEAH :bighug:
I was thoroughly impressed with the shipment. Nelli will (at the moment at least) eating Darwins exclusively now, as she did red cat. Darwins has three different types of feline food- chicken turkey and lamb. Nelli has had the turkey so far and again really loves it. Looks just, just, just like putting Rad Cat in her bowl :)
The food( incl. shipping) will run right around $20. per week. Significantly less than Rad- right around $15. :) Nelli ate about7oz a day @ $5.69 if I bought the 8oz size.

I still haven't gotten my order (and I ordered before you)….called AGAIN yesterday and was promised a return call (again)…..nothing but crickets.

I think I'm going to call and cancel....if this is their customer service, I don't think I'm interested.

Thanks Chris, but if it needs to be Prescribed by a Vet It's probably Expensive :arghh:

Ravan does not like the binder in his food ! Always leaves some when I add binder . I mix it in real good & add a dusting of FortiFlora but he gives me the "look" Like you ain't fool'in me!

How are China's Labs for her kidneys? Ravan is stage 2 . When his BG goes up high he leaks urine a LOT! I've never heard of a cat doing that, on this forum?
    Have a Nice Weekend :)

Her labs are on her spreadsheet....I think she's considered stage 2 too

The vet prescribed food is like $7/lb....so yeah, pretty pricey!!
