so PMPs is 184 3 cycles of upped dose to 2.2 and she’s low for before shot. Should I shoot same or go back to FAT 2 and give it more time? She was barely green on fat 2 for 2 weeks
I'm assuming you probably need to get some sleep tonight? Maybe drop to the fat 2 and get a +2 or +3. That way, you can hopefully get some sleep and also some data on what Little is likely to do on a lower number.
Ah. The ever elusive sleep... I unfortunately fed her before + 20/30 test because I have to leave for an hour or 2. Going to do another test soon. Damn. I’m confused. While fat 2 seems too little 2.2 always messes us up. 2018 SS shows we’ve been here before. I don’t know what to do!!
It happens. It's definitely up to you...What do you feel most comfortable with? You can try fat 2 or go ahead to 2.2 and just test when you get home. You'll know what to do if she goes low and you can steer and bring her back up if needed.
+30 min was 224. So I grew a pair and shot 2.2. Every other time this happened I went back down to FAT 2 and it proved not to be enough. Will get a +2 and see where we go. No sleep for me tonight! Praying....
Great! Let's just see what happens. If you get in a bind, post both here and Health...if nothing else someone is usually up to keep you company and you'll get more eyes from Health most likely. I'm excited to see what happens! For what it's worth, I think 2.2 will be fine since, as you said, every other time reducing hasn't worked. We've seen other kitties like this and when they shot the same dose, it usually worked out just fine.
+ 2 is 255.. jutzpah paid off this time at least. Let’s see where we go. Gonna try for an alarm at + 5. Crazy numbers all over and low points at all different times are making me batty... ahhhhh wine. Thank goodness
Heyyyy! Little did GREAT overnight! I'm so glad you went with 2.2. Very interested to see where the AMPS is.
Would you mind removing the red 911 from your title now? It gives us heart attacks when we see it because we assuming a kitty is having a hypo or something really scary. You could probably try 2 u on that PS but let's see what the stall produces. Tinkering with dosing when PS is lower is when you really learn a lot about your kitty's limits and also develop your own "nerve". If you're home to monitor you can be fairly brave.
Hey Kris .. I feel like my dosing is all over the place. Should I have stuck with FAT 2 longer and maybe numbers would adjust slowly? She was at that dose for 2 weeks with very few greens which prompted the move to 2.2. I hate to keep changing. Is it possible that Fat 2 results are enough for her? She is so much better and a normal happy cat at those numbers. I am home today... just confused and mentally and physically exhausted from this whole process
Try it. You gave 2.2 u last night on a 184 and she was fine. You're home to monitor. Actually your dosing isn't all over the place. It's been very consistent AM and PM and you've held a dose long enough to see what it can do. There's no such thing as an ideal dose that will work well over the long term This is something that it can take a while to come to terms with. The "good dose" will float around within a range. That range can be very narrow when a kitty is well regulated and stable in responses. The range will be wider early on or if kitty is more volatile in responses. The good dose range is the one that gives you low blues and high dark greens in the middle part of the cycle for more days than not. We ignore the PSs because they can be high in the early days or if a kitty is naturally volatile. If a kitty continues to be volatile eventually many of us try our a depot insulin like Lantus. If you have any interest in that for the future I suggest you go read the info stickies on the Lantus forum to get a feel for how it works.
It worked out okay last night. If you're home today and can monitor, I'd go for it. If you're going to be out and can leave food out, I'd say go for it. If you can't leave food out and won't be home, you could skinny it up a bit.
And ditto what Kris just wrote about the dose floating around a bit. Once you get to a good dose, you do have to skinny and fat it a fair amount. When you're finding a good dose you don't want to be moving the dose around a lot, but once you have a good level figured out, fine tuning is a bit of a dance.
I put on my big girl panties and went for 2.2. As for the comment on Lantus.. do you think I’ve given Prozinc enough time to consider ? It’s just shy of 4 months on PZI but I don’t even count the first month as I had no idea what I was doing ...and dosing was clearly a mess
No need to do anything right now. Give yourself a bit more time to learn ProZinc dosing and to see how she settles.
I wouldn't switch right now - you're getting some good progress. But I do think it's important and helpful to understand how it works. Plus, they have a ton of stickies and information in that forum that we don't have in ours, but applies in both.
Go to the Lantus forum and look at the yellow stickies at the very top of the thread list on that page. Maybe start with how a depot insulin works.
