Here is the link for more information; they are looking for test subjects. I believe it is USA only.

Interesting! Once a day dosing would certainly be nice.

Wish we lived closer :( No investigators near us - Naples or in Michigan :(

I hope this study gets started soon and they find that it helps!

My concern is not that this is sponsored by a veterinary pharmaceutical company. I want to know more about the study drug and they tell you virtually nothing. Metformin is an oral drug that is already available. It will over tax the pancreas and remission would not be possible. There is virtually no information about the side effects/complications of the study medication. That information may not be available until they have more study data but with any new drug that's at this stage of development, they have to have preliminary safety date. It would help to have that information before volunteering your cat.

    One thing at a time...
    1. See if he's accepted.
    2. Find out what they will be using.
    3. Ask about side effects/complications.
    4. Share info with group.
    5. Make a decision as to whether you want to participate or not.

Another thing, I read through sone of the limited info at the link.. is it required that insulin is stopped during the trial? I would be concerned if that is the case - especially with regards to damage to kidneys and DKA.

I cannot find any mention of insulin usage during the trial, but could have missed it.

I think the insulin is the medicine that’s either syringed or put on their food, I’m just exploring it

It certainly sounds like more information is needed. I don't think I would enroll a feline diabetic unless, as Sienne says, they provide enough information to make an informed decision.
