    Update: We did it! lol

@Bellasmom helped and we finally got it! Omg I feel so bad for him he's not happy with me lol but we got our first test done...

It's 362 :( Which..I know is really high but... it was 500/480 at the vet 6 weeks ago...so...I'm trying to think of this as a win. :/

    ----------------------------------------------------------
Starting to feel like I'm turning his little ears into pin cushions...

I tried by hand without the lancet 3 times on each ear... no blood came out... not at all...

Switched to the lancet device on the shortest setting...

And the lancets are the "ultra thin" 30 gauge ones... but it did come with a few that are 28 gauge I could try...

What am I doing wrong? :(

Should I use the 28 gauge ones? Should I use a longer setting on the lancet device?

I rubbed both of his ears before beginning, I tried neosporin ointment on the first ear but gave that up on the second one...

Tried the 28 gauge one by hand just now... blood kinda came out but like... just made a red spot on his ear ...didn't make a droplet or anything...

Hurray!! I'll never forget how happy I was when I first drew blood from Jack's ear. I never thought that making my cat bleed could be a cause for celebrating. Who could have known? And it will keep getting easier because the ears really do learn how to bleed. I was using 28 gauge, and now 30 gauge is fine.

Congratulations on your testing, it will get easier, and if you put some vaseline in his ear or neosporin before the poking then the blood won't get lost in the hair

We had our first successful testing this morning and I wanted to shout it from the rooftops!! Warming with an oat pack and coming in from the front (black fur on the ears drove me insane!) helped a lot. Congrats!
