He's doing better, isn't he? You have been so vigilant and diligent in taking care of him. I noticed in your notes that you said his back legs were giving out on him. Has he been experiencing that much? Just wondering about neuropathy, there is a supplement, Zobaline (Methylcobalamin - aka - methyl B-12) that helps resolve that. http://www.felinediabetes.com/FDMB/...europathy-weak-back-legs.178252/#post-2172382 Might not be, just noticed the reference.
We have been doing our best. I feel this is what it takes to help him the most that I can and possible remission. Yeah it seems like it happens randomly. It doesn't stay for long and yesterday was the first day I saw it pretty clearly. That is so helpful to know about the supplement. Is it painful for him? He is starting to seem a little more like himself.
You and Tony have been doing super! I don't know if neuropathy is painful or not, it certainly would be frustrating and difficult for kitty though. I am not knowledgeable about the condition, just what I have read about in posts and the information I provided the link for. I wanted to bring it to your attention so that you can observe and evaluate, then add the Zobaline if it's indicated. Getting the BG regulated is essential, and you are working on that.
Rumpys +6.8 was 92 ... am I right in thinking this is a good number? I am putting some wet food with 3% carb down. Rumpy has had no dry food today!! I can't remember who recommended orijen treats but he likes them!
I'm so glad he is leveling out better! While I don't know about the neuropathy specifically, I did get Alice a B12 shot 2-3 months ago because it wouldn't hurt at the least, and it did seem to correspond with a period of time when she perked up more! You're doing so well. I'm glad your sleep deprivation and attentiveness have paid off for him. =^.^=
@CassandraCatface the B12 shot you mentioned is not the same as the methyl B12 which is in tablet form. You don’t get it from the vet. You can buy it online from amazon or lifelink. It is called Zobaline for cats. You need to make sure you are buying the correct one as some have sugar or additives on them that are no good for cats. The Zobaline for cats is quite safe. I found it very good for Sheba’s neuropathy but getting the BSLs down is also important. Yes giving a snack after that drop into the 90s is a good idea. I’m not sure how long ago that was but I would test again in an hour to see if he is dropping further.
@Chris & China (GA) @Bron and Sheba Hello, just did PMPS and it was 161. Rumpy seems to be doing well, is it ok to shoot 1 unit?
Hello, just tested at +2, do you think I could possibly sleep throughout the night without testing? We haven't gotten a full nights rest since last Wednesday haha. Thank you ( from Tony)
Welcome to the world of FD! Personally I would get a +5 to check he is not dropping low. He dropped into greens last cycle.
He is hit or miss with them now haha. Some times he will eat it. I have to get him to smell the bag lol He’s so picky.
Did I tell you to buy the dog ones? They're cheaper and the exact same thing. There just bigger so you just break them up
