How often do i need to check her? This is the lowest she’s ever been. I’m freaking out!!!

She just ate some FF gravy. She is acting completely normal.

Okay, my dear, Lindsay. She's going to be fine. You've got this. The good news is that she's usually already past nadir by +6 at night, so while you are going to need to stay up a little longer, you won't need to be up all night. :)

One thing to keep in mind is that 68 is the "take action" number. It's not the "fall into danger" number. She is still quite safe, which is why you arent' seeing hypo symptoms right now.

The bar is set at 68 so that you can catch the drop and settle her down before she gets anywhere near danger. So right now she's fine, and you're going to be there to keep monitoring and make sure she stays in safe numbers.

My hunch is that she's pretty hungry right now, yes? How much gravy did she eat? How much did she eat for dinner tonight?

Ummm...in which time zone? It's only 7:15 where I am...

Around here we tell time by +2, +3, +4.5, etc. That way we don't have to worry about time zones. So how many minutes or hours since the last test?

Regardless, you'll want to give her about 30 minutes since she ate the gravy before you test her again.

Any advice on dosage in the morning? Obviously dependent on where she is but being they she went so low tonight not sure what to do tomorrow

If you're staying up, I would get one more test to make sure she stay up and doesn't drop again. And if it's possible for you to leave food out for her, do that.

As for tomorrow, definitely lower the dose in the morning. She will likely run high for a cycle or two (or three) after this, but lower the dose anyway and give her time to settle back down again.

If you need to sleep, I would just abort the cycle at this point. You can just give her the gravy and go to bed.

If you don't need to sleep, you can keep steering with the lower carb food, but it likely means you'll be up another hour.

    How are you feeling?

Yes, you'll definitely need a little extra :coffee: today! Great job last night!

And just ignore the ugly numbers for the next few cycles. Hopefully Zoe will clear out the bounce soon. It can take anywhere from one to six cycles to settle down after low numbers like that, so don't worry too much about what you see today.

Hi Lindsay. I have experienced much of the same. I can really can’t tell when my girl is too low or too high from clinical signs. Just wanted to reiterate not to freak over high numbers for next few cycles. It takes my girl 5/6 cycles to recover. So just try to relax and give her extra pets...

Okay -- so data is always good! It looks like .5 was too little, but now you know that, and can feel more comfortable shooting a closer-to-normal dose on a lower pre-shot. It took us *forever* to learn to do that, so good for you for getting the data you need to learn more quickly :D

Yikes. Look like she's wanting less insulin these days. I would suggest trying 0.75 tonight (if she's high enough to shoot), and don't worry about how high she goes tonight. You're doing a great job. Sometimes cats go through times when they are kind of all over the place. Our goal is always get steady them, but it can sometimes take awhile and some guessing. Hang in there!

Oh lordy....at this point we could just put numbers on a dart board and start throwing darts....it's anybody's guess. Last night she stayed safe shooting at 175, so maybe anything over 170ish? (insert shrugging emoji here) ;)

How thoughtful of Zoe to find a way to keep you on your toes this long weekend! ;)

So looking at your data since the other night’s adventures ... yesterday’s AMPS was surely a bounce, but her +2, despite being in a different color range, was actually pretty darn close to the PS number, well within meter variance. A more or less similar +2 usually means that the pancreas is doing some work, kicking in its own insulin in response to the food intake.
Then night’s .5 sure didn’t look like enough, but her little body was probably doing *something* to get that bounced number down to a lovely AMPS this morning since it didn’t get a lot of external assistance last night’s cycle ...

So yes, I think if her number is high enough (and I think it would be since I would think she’ll bounce again *shrugs*), split the difference and try .75.

Can you stay up with her if she decides to go on an adventure?

Oh lordy. Okay, back down to 0.5u. And I would give her a little HC food this time. It's early in the cycle, and she's flirting with the 50's. Just give her a spoonful of gravy, and if she's still hungry, some extra regular food.

How does she seem? If you can bring her up without it, that's ideal, but if she's seeming wound up and extra hungry, it would be okay to give her a little here. You just don't want to load her up with a lot of it.

Holy smokes, Zoe! That was not necessary, little girl!

Remember after a lime green, you're supposed to lower the dose, so you should bring her down to 0.5u. She's shown you that 0.75 is too much insulin for her. I know that 0.5u wasn't enough the other day, but I'd try it for a few cycles and see if she settles down. Especially with you gone at work this week, better safe than sorry!

It’s okay, Lindsay. I actually would have been tempted to hold the dose for the giant bounce cycle last night, and she’s probably still high enough that she’ll be just fine for this one, too. :bighug:

Yes, one approach to bouncing is to "shoot through" the bounce - so you keep the dose where it was for a cycle or two since they'll be high anyway, and then lower on the cycle when you anticipate the bounce will break. I don't usually suggest it because it's so hard to time it right, but essentially that's what you're doing. And quite honestly tonight might be good timing to bring the dose down. :)

Sounds good! She’s probably a little bounced up right now, so my thought would be to hold her here for a few cycles and see if she settles in once she completely clears the bounce.

Edit: oh! Like Djamila wrote just earlier. :D

okay -- that's very good! Now that you've got her out of the limes, start your "hypo clock" and re-test in 30 minutes from the last test. (If you can bear it! Some people like to re-test in 20, and that's sure understandable!)

When you get a breath, tell us what you feed her to bring her up -- what kind, how much, etc.

Edit: ah! There's what you fed her.
