Cc spent four days being boarded and had a dental. She got a shot at 5:45 this morning. At 4 pm she was looking for dinner so I tested her... 55! Lol. Ok here's dinner early. Now it's 7:30 which is 2 hours past normal pm shot time and she's 96. Ha Guess we are stalling. Or skipping. When I brought her in Fri her bp was 185. Tested again the next day 176. Tested the next day, 131. Much better. Whew. She must have just been stressed.
Good news on the lowered BP, yet another thing acromegaly can affect. Neko's first go round at BP testing she was over 210 - barky dogs, vet delayed getting to us due to emergency, yada, yada. Second attempt a puppy jumped her carrier in the waiting room - 180. At the dental vet in the room with Feliway - 141. Good luck with whatever you do tonight. She must be glad to be home.
Well we tested again and she's 77 so at this point we are skipping. After 3 nights of less sleep we want a good night sleep so I don't want to have to get up to test at 2-3 am. Lol guess we'll see what it is in the morning. Such an awesome trip. My son got to meet 18 of his half siblings this weekend.
And really not a bad AMPS considering last nights dose! Come on CC let’s see more blues and greens today!!!
I'm glad C.C. is home and enjoying the good times. It is good to see some greens for her. Your chart is very colorful. Another bouncy Acro kitteh. Hugs to you. I know just how hard it is to keep an Acrocat somewhat regulated.
right? I stalled 45 min and it went from 166 to 169. lol I wasn't sure what to give so I went with 7. Looks like we may have to reduce her regular dose a little more. I'll try 11 tonight. Looks like that dental last week did her some good! I hope it gives her kidney's a break so the numbers improve.
Acro dosing is hard! Have you thought anymore about switching to Lev? In some ways it’s easier to dose it since it has a later onset and nadir. I used to give Colin his full dose on pretty much any PS. Though sometimes I chickened out, and sometimes I was wrong because the lower number was due to a tumor fluctuation. Then the high dose Depot was scary!
I don't know. I feel she's doing good and I don't wanna mess that up. I think I'm just going to stick with this for now. It's a crap shoot no matter what anyway. Lol. All you can do is take your best guess
Yeah, I liked lev, but there were times when I thought an in and out insulin would be better. Especially when I’d shoot 18u and the damn tumor decided to shut down for the night. That didn’t happen often, but when it did that big Depot was scary for a longer time than with prozinc, since Colin’s nadir with Lev was almost PS time...
Leo's nadir on Levemir was often late in the cycle too. But he bounced around so much sometimes, it was just hard to get patterns established.
Yeah those morning preshots are looking pretty this week I am not going to be home during the day today so I was nervous to shoot too much. Hopefully it was a good choice. I know I need to get her on a more consistent dose.
Well it must have been a good choice because an hour to shoot time and she's still 180... So maybe I'll do 9-9.5 again tonight.
Besides the posted protocols, there is no amazing strategy that will create a perfect nadir in a bouncy Acro-cat. I tried. With Leo bouncing all over, I varied the dose too, within a range. Our goal with Leo, was to follow our vet's advice "Keep Leo safe." I tried to get him some blue numbers each day - a simple goal to make him feel normal and keep him out of the bad high numbers. We took a drive today, in memory of Leo. It was the driving leg of the first hour of Leo's September 2016 trip for SRT (radiation) - from Austin to Ft. Collins, which gets to Lampasas TX (one hour north of Austin). We talked about all of Leo's great health achievements and wonderful life. And we made a mock stop to "check up on him in the back of the car". We had one of his blankets. Leo did good during the 2016 trip. It was a good trip. Theresa and I talked about the Acro-kittehs here too. Including Colin. Including C.C. Including Neko. And the newer Acros. And others (Sophie, Shmee, Bronx, others). We both feel that Acromegaly is cruddy (put more cuss words here). We also hope you son is still having good vision, and if not, we hope he is getting good memories to store for his remaining days with good vision. The vision loss situation is horrible. Our Biggest hugs to you Janet - the Mom of the Year.
We took him to an small amusement park today. I'm not sure how much worse his vision is from a few months ago. I can't tell if it's actually worse or if we are just a lot more sensitive and aware of it. Either way it was a good day. Pray the science goes fast and the eyes go slow. We have an appointment for more tests down in Philadelphia this time on Wednesday. Wish us luck. The genetic part of it could take 6+ months to get results.
Those are some cool looking shades, and a great picture of him. I hope the science catches up quickly and can resolve the issue. I'm glad to hear he has another appointment.
Phil is such a cutie. We are all pulling for him, very hopeful that in the very near future something will come along to help or intervene.
Nice to have some GOOD news. Lol. She's doing GREAT this week. Guess I could have done 11 this morning, but still good numbers.
I think thats where the lev is handy. I pretty much shot anything over 50, though I did sometimes do a BCS!
Green is a good luck sign for your family. I hope the new lower BG numbers hang around for awhile. And good luck with the Dr visit tomorrow.
Looks like a good recent pattern of decent nadirs. It can be really challenging with all that bounciness. Agree with Sharon - C.C. is doing well this week.
One little lime. That's OK. I may try 10.5 twice a day and see what happens. And this is all with the stress of overnight guests the last two days. I'm so pleased with her progress. Each week I look out of curiosity what her average amps and pmps numbers were. Last week's amps was 242.8, and the pmps was 199.7! Best numbers I've seen in over a year.
Since July 10th, C.C.'s numbers are really looking good. It looks like you might have dialed in the magic dose. Those averages are also very good. I hope you are recovering from the overnight guests and staying out of the heat.
You may want to migrate these updates into the Prozinc forum. Please tag me. C.C.'s numbers looking very good in the past 10 days. I would take a photo of that for a keepsake.
Prozinc forum doesn’t seem too active lately. Not sure they know much about acro/high dose kitties either. It’s hard to know what to do with green PS’s and high doses. Sometimes I shot a token dose and sometimes I skipped, just depended on the day and how I felt. If you do start a thread in prozinc, tag me too.
