I hope Honey heads down for you today.

If you are going to be recording numbers from the human meter in your SS, you may want to make a line stating you are switching meters for those of us giving dose advice.

More goodies in box, “starter kit”, extra strips, lancets, control solution and lancet device with case, all under $50, what one box of AT strips cost. :banghead:

What a deal! I feel like it is my birthday or Christmas, lol.

Really hope I get used to a human meter.

Very disappointed in the human meter, reading is approximately 100 points lower than AT and I double checked both readings. Guess I will have to stick with the AT meter even though I can’t afford it. I did a lot of research and this was supposed to be reliable, even more so than Relion Prime. More wasted money I can’t afford.

That's silly. You're not the first to make a mistake and cetainly won't be the last. Mistakes are learning experiences. Couldn't tell you how many 'learning experiences' I've had in my time on the board! :D

For continuity's sake, copied from this thread: When to Feed When NOT to Feed.
Julie, I don't know about others, but I did bring the subject up of the effects of the combination of food/insulin up in the following threads:
I backed off because you weren't very receptive at the time. If someone wants my opinion, fine. If they don't, that's fine, too. I don't like to force my opinion/an issue upon anyone.

That said, I have been trying to figure out Honey's spreadsheet all along. Today, it became clear how withholding food prior to getting that mid-cycle spot check would give you a lower BG number than if you were feeding normally. In more than one case, that lower number had you take a reduction... setting up a vicious circle of premature reductions followed by the necessity to take the dose up once again.

Let's just be glad we got this figured out and go on from here! :)

I love the emoji scale too Julie!! Good collaboration between you and Nikki!

I don’t know if it helps or not, but I have read that you can’t compare the numbers between a pet monitor and a human monitor. Specifically I’ve read that the higher the BG level the more the two monitors will vary. It might be best not to compare and just start from scratch. I would even be tempted to start a new spreadsheet all together. I think the most important thing would be consistency, The cost alone will be worth it to switch to human. But of course you have to do what you’re most comfortable with - what’s best for you and Honey :)

Hope your weekend is going well :joyful:

That's the same kind of meter Felix has. I have been satisfied with it, but I haven't tried anything else so I don't know any different. I order strips from ADW in cases of 12 (600 strips) for about $124.

My understanding is like @AmandaE , that the meters will diverge quite a bit at higher numbers but will narrow when closer to our take-action numbers (hence 50 human/68 AlphaTrak in TR). If you decide to stay with the AlphaTrak but keep the AgaMatrix around, it might be interesting to compare the AgaMatrix again sometime when Honey has a green number--although, as others have suggested, the disorientation from a new meter will resolve more quickly if it's not compared with the other one. You can know the numbers are going to be different, but that's not the same as feeling what the numbers mean, so it's understandable that a different meter would feel unnatural for awhile.

I hope you can get back a little of your birthday/Christmas feeling.:bighug:

Update.. Sunday she was much lower AT was 163 and the human meter came in at 120, so I feel better about the numbers now. They are a lot closer in lower range. Just needed to see it to know I didn’t have a broken meter...

Have you tried the strips with the control solution? (I think I remember you saying you you got a control solution in your purchase kit) if the reader gives you the proper value that it should for the control solution then I think you can trust it!

Hope you’ve had a nice weekend Julie :)

Yes, I checked with control. That 100 point variance was just freaking me out. Terrible heat here, I hate summer in Chicago.

I love the heat! But I don’t think living in northern Canada that I would have near as horrible heat as in Chicago ;)

I can definitely understand the variance freaking you out

Before it was $75. for 100!!:eek::eek: Testing strips here in Canada are a lot more expensive than insuline, unfortunately that's what we use the most! :( I'm glad for you ! :):)
