http://www.felinediabetes.com/FDMB/threads/7-12-luci-amps-234.216707/#post-2405099 Day 2 of Levemir - let's see what Luci thinks of it today...she hit just about all the numbers yesterday...crazy cat! Have a wonderful Saturday everyone
Good morning.....hope you too have a wonderful relaxing Saturday!! Since I am not familiar with Levemir I am following Luci's SS closely. Why do you feel Levemir will help Luci better than Lantus?
Keep in mind Lantus depot is still there and levemir is building up so you might get some crazy readings as the one empties as the other fills.
I've been watching @Amanda and a Loudogg and @JoyBee&Ravan for about a year now to see how after they switched to Lev - how they would respond to it. Since I'd invested heavily in Lantus last year I was reluctant to give it a try - but as you can see Luci's numbers are all over the place - highs, lows and everything in between - no consistency from one day to the next .... so long story short... I decided it was time to make the switch and see if she will level off. I've already resigned myself to her being a forever diabetic and she seems healthy and happy - but she spends too much time above renal threshold - 200 - and I think in the long run that isn't healthy for her. So here we go...stay tuned
We started March of Last year because of high dose and was hoping for some leveling out. I think she leveled out only a tiny bit. She can still bounce pretty good though. Ollie doesn't seem to have the later nadirs either. Leg seems to work the same as lantus with Ollie. Nadir seems to be +5-6. But she has also had some later and some earlier. It's that ECID thing.
Now is where the Patience comes in ! It might take some time for her body to adjust to the change. But every cat is different,Right? We'll be watching.
Check out @Osha SS. Amanda switched her Levemir (due to the extreme bouncing) June 2017 @ 4U. She is now well regulated @ 2 drops and looks like OTJ trial soon! Never say never
Yes, I figured as much - that's the reason I started very conservatively - which seems like such a TINY dose compared to the Lantus dosage I'm used to seeing in the syringe. I'm also nervous about when to test her and how often - since apparently Lev nadirs later I really have no idea when I should be especially watchful of Luci'. I knew with the Lantus that she could take off like a rocket at +2 ... I'm testing frequently and am hoping to try to figure out when she nadirs...but so far, as many have said, ECID, it's going to take us a week or two to settle in and see what she's going to do with this - and then to figure out what dose may be best - it's almost like starting over - she looked better yesterday than she's looking today...but it may take a while for her Lev depot to build up and start doing it's thing...it's a wait and see kinda game isn't it?
So exciting to see how Luci will do with the switch Mowgli and I are watching and cheering for better results for Luci Have a great day Sue
Oh Sue, I’m happy to see you are giving Lev a try for Luci! . Reading many success stories on how the switch, often after a long time on Lantus with little movement, was the BiNgO! I think you’ve made a good decision for Luci My thought are prayer are with you and Luci... success
I SEE what you mean! Wow! Looking good! Gives me hope for Luci - she's been a hard nut to crack...let's hope she feels cooperative and heads down the dosing ladder - I mean you know she's going to take me for a roller coaster ride - obviously - that's her style - but I'm strapping in...we'll see how she does. I'm armed and loaded for 'bear'
I will...I had to pop over to work on a doctor's credentialing for a bit... her book is in the kitchen and I'm not sorry...
Ok, SS updated...and the doc is credentialed Really great news for him! And Luci is in the blues - nice day at the beach for her
Good luck on Levemir! It was a game changer for Osha. I am a huge fan of Levemir!! I hope you and Luci have a positive experience as well.
Looks like the .75 was a good dose to start with & last night's pmps was Blue! Just need to wait a few days to see where Luci goes! It took Ravan several months till I felt he was leveling out. But every cat reacts differently. Come on Luci show us what you can do
