Dianne, you have no idea how lucky you are to be seeing the cycles Tyler is getting. There are a lot of folks here who would kill for Tyler's cycles. Give Tyler scritches for being such a good boy and yourself a pat on the back for being such a good CG. :joyful:

Ok , I was starting to get used to seeing some of his pre shot numbers in the 130's up to the 150's , so when I see the 190's I assume they are not so good. But yes when I test him through the cycle they are good, I guess that's what counts @MrWorfMen's Mom

A lot of thunder here which freaked Tyler out, what an effort to get him to eat, just kept looking at the windows, finally I took a spoon and held it to his mouth and he ate enough to shoot. This cat is something else. He is like the cowardly lion in the movie The Wizard of Oz @MrWorfMen's Mom

Tyler sounds like my middle child. He is so skitterish with noises that I can't even empty my dishwasher whilst doing my lunchroom monitoring lest I make a clang with a dish that will send him running.

Took my car in to get some maintenance stuff done very early this AM, pulled weeds from around the gone wild catnip and then visited with the saleswoman I bought the car from when I went to pick it up at the dealer. Haven't seen her for awhile and we had a lovely chat.

    Anything exciting in your day?

Oh my God, yes Tyler is the same way with dishes, and God forbid I sneeze he goes running. It just irks me sometimes.
Your day was way more exciting than mine, it poured here most of the day, it really came down. Tomorrow night I take Perry for his blood work

Hey Linda, how sweet Auntie Linda, I love it. I just had a talk with him and told him what you said, lol . I do feel like you are his Auntie by now.
Well I got his brothers blood test results back today for his kidney disease and phenobarbital level. Thank God nothing has changed since 6 months ago. Still stage 2 . My vet was pleased. And no seizures so far it's been around 4 months since he has had one. Before this he hadn't had one in 11 months. It's awful to watch when he has one.I actually get weak in the legs when it happens. It only lasts for about 6 - 8 seconds. He doesn't have to back for 6 months @MrWorfMen's Mom Linda just wanted to see if you were still up, just tested Tyler tonight @+2.5 and he was 95, now should I give him a little FF Pate, or can I check again @+3.5 , The reason why I ask is because I want to see if he will stay in the green if I don't feed him anything, or is that to risky not to feed @+2.5. The funny thing is this is the second time you said to Tyler , come on Tyler let's see a green , and it happens, lol @MrWorfMen's Mom
Ok just tested him @+3.5 and it's 89, so I just fed him FF Pate, re tested @+4 went up to 124 , did not feed him anything , will re test @+5.5 which will be 3:00 am. Just tested @+5.5 3:00 am, went down to 104, this is where I don't know if I should feed him a little or wait another hour and test again. Decided to feed him 1 table spoon of FF Pate, will test @+6.5 that will be 4:00 am @MrWorfMen's Mom Tested @+6.5 it was 129 will re test @+8 which will be 5:30. I am tired! Ok last test for now @+8 he was 165, I'm done.

Sorry Diane but I was pooped last night (had kid over doing grass and he exhausts me!) so I turned in early last night. You obviously had Tyler surfing just fine last night and know how to handle him. What a beautiful cycle and with some green to boot! Yeah Tyler! :joyful:

That's ok, right now I'm more than pooped lol, Is this number I'm about to tell you for this morning considered a bounce because of those green numbers last night
    SATURDAY 8-10 19
AMPS - 211 going with 0.75 skinny @MrWorfMen's Mom did you read what I wrote in #17 about every time you ask Tyler to show you some green, he does, this is the second time lol. I'm so happy that Perry's blood work was very good and his kidneys
are about the same, still stage 2. And yes you are Auntie Linda, so cute

Yes I saw that Tyler co-operated.....a first in Kittydom! A cat that actually does what he's asked?!!! WOW! Yeah Tyler!

Also yes to the bounce. He's not that high....it's just a little blip so no worries.

I have no doubt you are pooped out. If only these guys would do this stuff on the day cycle but no..... they seem to like working the juice more on the night cycles. Get a nap in today while Tyler is running a bit higher. And if you don't want to be up all night with him, it's Ok to carb him up a bit to boost his numbers so you can get some rest. Remember he needs you, Ashley needs you and you need to be kind to YOU.....not just everyone else.

Linda I wanted to ask you last night when Tyler tested 104 @5.5 was it necessary to feed him like I did, , that food got him up to 129 @+6.5 which I didn't feed him anything and then @+8 got him to 165.
    @+2.5 was 95 I didn't feed him anything
@3.5 was 89 so I did feed him since he went lower
    @+4 was 124 and I didn't feed anything
@+5.5 was 104 so I fed because I saw he dropped
    @+6.5 was 129 didn't feed anything
    @+8 was 165
I'm trying to see if with those numbers was it necessary to feed him when I stated I fed him?
What I'm trying by ask is after that BG of 124 was it necessary to feed him after that during the rest of the cycle. This is where I'm getting confused when to feed, or to just re test like I did and just make sure he didn't start to drop close to a BG of 90 or something like that. I did make a note for myself that if he drops between 80- 90 then feed LC. So that's why I'm wondering if I should have fed @+5.5 when it was 104, or could I have not fed him and then just test an hout or so later.
I must be driving you crazy @MrWorfMen's Mom I hope you understand what I'm trying to get at, @MrWorfMen's Mom

Diane, I would have done the same thing. You definitely needed to feed him when he hit the 89. The feeding at 104 was a choice and there was no right or wrong answer except that self preservation for me would have fallen on the FEED side. You could have waited and retested to see if he was still falling but why would you do that to yourself in the middle of the night? You are handling him beautifully! :D

PMPS - 142 .do you think I should go with fat 0.5 looked back at the past numbers at night that were almost the same BGand that's what I went with, It seems when he has a higher AMPS than usual he always comes back at night with a lower BG , which I'm glad to see @MrWorfMen's Mom

You had an active night last night so I hope you got a mighty good cat nap today. Looks like 0.5 fat would be fine but if you need more rest (which I'm pretty sure you do) you could go with right on the line for tonight and give yourself a break. Tyler will be fine either way.

Just an FYI.....I will likely not be online tomorrow night for PMPS. Have to go up north tomorrow for a friend's 70th birthday and it's a 2 hour drive away so I probably won't be home by PMPS. I'm crazy for going given the distance and short visit time but he's a dear friend and he's been an amazing support for me since my hubbie passed so I don't want to miss it. :D

Got home just before 10pm. Had a good time but I had forgotten just how bad the mosquitoes are up there. I'd been there all of 30 minutes and had already been bit 3 times and was spraying on insect repellent. I swear I could rent myself out as a mosquito repellent for parties and makes a LOT of money! :woot: I am apparently the most yummy one in most crowds. Only know one person who rivals me for attraction! What a business we could set up together!

And when I got home, I found Menace had not eaten her food and 2 dishes I had left out for the boys were not cleaned up either. Of course I have no idea who ate what so I went to feed them and Menace is now turning her nose up at the food she's been eating for quite some time. I think she got into her brother's food and decided THAT was what she wanted too. This morning was the same thing so I tried something new which she reluctantly finally ate. She is the fussiest cat and wants what her brothers are having. If her food wasn't so dang expensive I'd feed it to all of them but even that might not work because they aren't fussy on her food either. I'm trying to keep her off chicken and turkey and the boys love those 2 flavours. :banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead: Not what I wanted to be dealing with when I got home last night or this morning! Off to the pet store YET again!:arghh::arghh::arghh:

The mosquitoes love biting you because you are sweet! Menace you are being a pain in the neck for your mommy. I'm sure that's the last thing you wanted to deal with. What food does Menace eat.

All of them were eating FF Turkey and Giblets. Switched Menace to Hounds & Gato Lamb for a while but she got sick of it. Got her on Hounds & Gato Trout and Duck (not fussy on fish everyday but she has to eat!) and now she doesn't want that either. My boys will also eat RC Babycat which I sometimes give Myster to keep his calories up and I think Menace got into that recently and likes it.....not good 'cause it's too high in carbs and has chicken in it. The boys aren't nearly as fussy as Menace and of course Myster and Worf both like their steak and poached chicken breast neither of which Menace will touch! I've never dealt with such a fussy kitty before. She really take the cake!
Last night and today she reluctantly finally ate some Weruva Cats in the Kitchen Lamb Burgini but I doubt that is going to last long either given her reaction to the bowl when I set it down.

I'd cook for her if I thought she'd eat it but I can't seem to find much she likes to even make an attempt.

That little booger lol, it must drive you nuts. Is she allergic to chicken and turkey, explain to me why you don't like giving her that. I'm lucky that Tyler likes the FF Classic Chicken Pate. Let's see how long that lasts . Ashley has to check in with her thyroid doctor. Just to go over her blood work. I know it's ok because I get a copy of the blood work from the lab emailed to me. God forbid he just called and said ok it's in range, come back in 6 months and I'll mail the script to you for it. Her appointment is for 2:30 , so leaving soon. Just gave Tyler some Dr Elseys, just a little treat. His numbers are good so far. Talk to you later @MrWorfMen's Mom

Menace has been getting little tiny red spots on her tummy and licking the fur off it along with the inside of her hind legs. Antihistamines help a wee bit but I was trying to change her diet to a more unique protein to see if it was a food allergy. I really don't think it is but I'll try anything to keep her off steroids. Just to keep life interesting, she ate her trout and duck without much of a standoff at snack time this morning. Go figure. Some days I think they will drive me insane!

I know what you mean about doctors. My mother's doctor used to insist on me bringing her to his office every 3 months for BP meds even though the retirement home was checking her BP daily. When I asked him why he insisted it was guidelines from the Medical Association. When I tried to enlighten him as to the difference between guidelines and regulations/rules/laws, he was none too impressed and summarily dismissed ME from his office but saying my Mom was still free to come see him. Idiot seemed to be oblivious that with Mom's mobility issues (which were behind my trying to keep appts. to a needed minimum) she could not possibly come without me. It's a pocket stuffing maneuver that is disgusting and unprofessional in my view.

Just got home around 4 pm. Yes I agree it's all about $$$.
Wow what a jerk telling you that you couldn't come into the office, only your mom could.Who the hell was supposed to bring her there.
There are a lot of times that I had to go to certain doctor's for myself that really ticked me off, I knew right there I wouldn't be returning to them, so I blasted them and told them what I thought of them. I only have so much patience before I blow lol

Ashley's primary is ok, he will just call you with the blood work results and will refill prescriptions over the phone , plus give refills. But he does like to see you maybe every 6 months.
Well well Menace ate her trout and duck lol, yes they can drive you insane. Hopefully she will be a good girl from now on. I will check in with you tonight @MrWorfMen's Mom

Yes I was hoping for that this morning, let's see what happens tonight, remember every time you mention it, we see a green. Talk to you later, ready to give him the insulin

You did shoot a 125 at 0.10u and it kept his pre-shot down but not sure if he hit green because it was on a night cycle. No bounce though so looks like he stayed pretty stable. You could also try 0.25u but I think even a skinny 0.5u might be pushing it a wee bit too much.

Yep you are right He had a 125 PMPS on 8-3-19 and a 129 on 8-4-19 AMPS and I shot 0.10 but no green both times. . I will stay with the 0.10 for this morning. Is the 0.10 just above the first long line on the syringe @MrWorfMen's Mom Sorry is it the first long line on the top of the syringe @MrWorfMen's Mom

Well you didn't see a green and I agree it's unlikely but still not out of the realm of possibility. He could have gone down a bit more from that 105 without your knowledge.

Got a couple of errands to run and need to do some tidying up like putting laundry from the weekend away. Was pooped Monday from the driving and being allergic to mosquitoes, I was itching like crazy till late yesterday and that was exhausting and very annoying. Got one bite on my finger and it was quite swollen. Finally coming down now. At least I didn't get a major reaction from any of the bites. You doing anything special today?

Ashley is just like you when it comes to mosquitoe bites, swells up like crazy.
No nothing exciting for me today. Tomorrow just going for my routine blood work. Wow exciting lol I really don't go out much because of Ashley, we never know when someone is going to start mowing their lawn or some kind of noise and have to leave the house asap. So I try to stay close if I have something to do. When she as able to go out before the rsd affected her ears was to go to Flea Markets , we both loved it. Just love old vintage things. Over the years she has a very big collection of things.
She misses it so much @MrWorfMen's MomDo you have any Flea Markets by you @MrWorfMen's Mom

I think 0.75 skinny is about right when Tyler is around 150. He's not gone too low on either dose at that range.

Yeah! She is eating her food again although there is still a bit of reluctance. She wants her old food that her brother's are still eating and it breaks my heart not to be able to indulge her but all she gets of that is dregs that get dropped on the food mats if I don't intervene soon enough. I guess to some extent that is probably causing me issues with her but I don't own a castle and can only keep them separated for meals to a limited degree.

I can understand that when I feed Perry I have to put his food on the kitchen table . Tyler can't jump on the kitchen chair to get up in the table because of his hind legs. Sometimes when I do put Perry's dish on the floor , only because Tyler is laying down in another room , then Perry's done eating , Tyler will make a dash to the dish. Sometimes he sneaks over ,so now it's always on the tabet for Perry, I feel so bad I have to do that. If I do leave Perry's dish on the floor I have to sit there and wait till he's not eating and then pick it up. Boy can they drive you crazy. Did you read #65 by the way @MrWorfMen's Mom

Sorry Diane. I was a bit later getting online this AM and assume you've left. I agree trying the skinny 0.5u is fine. Doesn't look like Tyler did much on the lower doses at that pre-shot range.

Have you thought about giving Tyler some Zobaline for his legs? Not that you want him jumping on the table and yes it would mean more supervising of kitty dinner time on your part :woot: but it might help Tyler regain the strength in his legs if the problem is from neuropathy. His BG is well controlled at this stage and if it is neuropathy, I'd expect his legs should be improving and the Zobaline would just help speed that up.

I saw #65. Nice to know I'm not the only one allergic to mosquitoes but I wouldn't wish it on anyone. I finally found an anithistamine that helped and they have now taken it off the market. Nothing else works at all and sometimes the welts are inches in diameter and I could cook an egg on them. I'm told it depends on the variety of mosquito and thankfully whatever bit this time wasn't my worst nemesis.

We have flea markets and we used to go periodically but I haven't gone for years. I should do that again one day and see if they've changed at all. We have far fewer of them than we used to.

    Does Ashley have any hobbies?

Hey Linda well Tyler hardly moved this morning at the skinny 0.5 just like the other time. Yes I have been giving him Zobaline since the day he was diagnosed. It has helped, he can jump onto the couch now and if he wants to lay on the kitchen counter I pick him up and put him there. I put a kitchen chair right there and he does jump onto it when he wants to get down. His back isn't that hunched like it was before and he is still walking on his hocks, but not as much as before. But when I show him the air freshener can which he hates, I told you about it, he does run pretty fast. Maybe this is the best his legs are going to get. I just added that he takes Zobaline to his signature at least we got a green last night @MrWorfMen's Mom

I too am a mosquito magnet, extra B vitamins don't help, non of the herbal repellents seem to either, only thing I've found is MaxiDeet which I hate to use

as an antihistamine, the Aller-Clear from Costco (loratadine generic) works about the best, and the Costco version is considerably cheaper than others

@MrWorfMen's Mom Hey Linda just checking to see if you might be around
Today gave Skinny 0.75 his AMPS was 155
    Tested @+2 - 128 didn't feed anything
@+5 which was at 2:15 pm it was 141. He was looking to eat so I gave him some F F Pate
About a half hour later he threw it all up , then of course he was looking to eat about 20 minutes later.
I gave him about 10 pieces Dr Elseys Dry Chicken .
    Threw that up, not much
Just around 4:45 pm he threw up a little clear foamy bile.
Once in a blue moon he might throw up.
    @+8 -167
Not feeding him anything as of yet.
My question is what happens when I feed him around 8:30 pm
and he throws it up before I give him the insulin, how much do I give?

If he throws up after the insulin, will it still be in his system, dumb question right?
Other than that he's fine, playing, alert,
    Also tested for ketones, Negative
What do you think @MrWorfMen's Mom @Bron and Sheba (GA)
    @FurBabiesMama
I'm starting to worry ahead of time, like I said I will test him at 8:00 pm, them I feed him and by the time he gets done eating it's 8:30 pm and then I give his insuIns at 9:00 pm

I take it he was fine after his shot meal this morning. I wonder if he ended up with some acid build up from not eating between his shot meal and +5 if he is used to eating in between. If he was that hungry did he do a scarf and barf?
I'd suggest you give him a little snack now and see if he keeps it down. That gives you roughly 2 hours till pre-shot test time. If he doesn't eat/vomits at his 8pm pre-shot meal, since ketones are negative, I'd say skip his shot tonight. You can leave an hour between when he finishes his meal and giving insulin which should be lots of time to see if he's keeping his food down or not.

Hey Linda ,just got on, I haven't fed him anything as of yet , It's 7:30 pm right now, so I don't want to feed him anything since I will be testing him at 8:00 pm and then feed him. No he didn't scarf and barf when he ate @+5 @MrWorfMen's Mom He is sitting here waiting to be fed, oh and yes he was fine after his meal this morning.
Sorry I'm a little confused when you said if he doesn't eat/vomits at his 8 pm pre- shot meal, I'd say skip his dose tonight? I'm going to test him now, it's 8 pm, and then plan to feed him @MrWorfMen's Mom

My bad....should have said "Doesn't eat or vomits". Short form was confusing! Maybe he is trying to bring up a hairball. Mine always seem to have a bit of vomit before the actual hairball shows up.

Now if he throws it up then I should skip @MrWorfMen's Mom
Ok just got finished eating at 8:20 pm, boy he was hungry.
So now I'll see if he keeps it down.
If he does keep it down I will shoot at 9 pm. But how much, the Skinny 0.75 again.

I think even if he keeps food down, I'd be conservative tonight just to be on the safe side. Maybe a fat 0.5?
