Missy is already at 96 and still has two hours to go before the insulin peaks. What should I do?

Yes, go ahead and give her a couple of teaspoons of her regular food and test again in 30 minutes

    OK....looks like she's 85 after 30 minutes

Go ahead and encourage her to eat a little more and test again in another 30 minutes. She's "surfing" now (which is great for her pancreas!)

She's also earned a reduction since you told me you're doing SLGS because she dropped below 90. You should add SLGS to your signature so others know that's the dosing method you're using.

Tomorrow morning, she may bounce high because of the lower numbers tonight. If she does, you could give the .5 one more time but then you'd drop it to .25 for the PM dose and continue with the .25 Giving the .5 one more time is called "shooting through the bounce"...it just gives her a little extra juice to help with the bounce.

I can't stay any longer, but hopefully others will be around. Usually @Bron and Sheba (GA) pop on later (since she's in Australia)

As long as she stays above 50, she's safe. If she were to drop below 50 just give her some high carb food and test again in 20-30 minutes.

Thanks for your help. She’s still working on her dinner and seems to be doing alright. I don’t want to panic and give her a bunch of hc food just yet since she’s still in safe numbers. I’ll take a quick nap and retest again.

Please don’t leave it longer than an hour in case she drops lower.

She had a little bit of her regular lc food and 2 temptations treats and then I went to bed.

AMPS is 273. Looks like she didn’t bounce high so I’m going to give a reduced dose (0.25). I won’t be around to check on her at +4 or +6 so I don’t want to give 0.5 again in case she drops too low

Nice job handling the greens last night!!! 0.25 is a good idea if you can't monitor-- she'll likely bounce and stay high all day, but just in case.

Thank you! I’m going out of town for the day and someone else will be watching her so I don’t feel comfortable knowing she may dip down without me being there to help, otherwise I would have given 0.5 and just monitored her. I have a feeling she needs something between 0.25 and 0.5
