Yesterday was a good day; 24 hrs in green or blue. But the inevitable bounce came last night and we're in the red this morning.

I don't know if there's anything else I can do to stop the bouncing. Early and frequent LC meals help, but even a blue will trigger a huge climb eventually. I think we're just along for the ride until Luna decides she doesn't want to bounce anymore.

You called it didnt you!? I feel like you said she rarely spends this much time in good numbers without a bounce, and she did not disappoint!!

I hope Luna clears this bounce soon and that you have a great day Dan :)

I think you just have to wait until Luna decides not to bounce any more. I hope she comes down slowly today.

I think the only thing you can do to help her bouncing is not to let her get so low - if you'd gotten some tests after her AMPS yesterday, you may have seen that she was headed down, down...and bring out the MC food to slow that drop or stop it altogether...as soon as she slams down into those low 50's she's going to bounce.

Let's hope she starts to clear the bounces sooner...or you could try to catch those low numbers and steer her away from them earlier on. It'll help if she surfs - even in a higher number - like those blues - and at some point will ease down...

I thought about keeping her numbers higher with MC food, but she bounces even in the 100s. She bounced to over 500 after a day of blue and yellow on 10/4.

It's ok..she'll get better at this as time goes by. Keep trying the food steering...and avoid those really low numbers...let's hope this trend with the bouncing evens out after a while.

Looks like she cleared that bounce already and gave us our third straight blue PMPS. It was a pretty big drop today, but it was gradual. Hopefully she doesn't have another one planned for tonight.

I'm not sure how you can define the drops today as 'gradual'. She dropped from AMPS to the mid-day test by 181 points; then the next drop was another 79 points. Without a single test in between ... I'm just now sure how that's 'gradual'...

It would really be a good idea to see if she continues to drop after dropping nearly 200 points by mid-day. She could be on her way back up this evening...

All I can say is there need to be more tests...If you want to stop the bouncing...stop the big drops...steer with food to slow it all down. Every day...and soon she'll start to figure out not to dump that load of glycogen from her liver into her blood stream which equals the big numbers you see...just need to try to break this cycle of up/down. :D

I don't think it's that simple. I'm sure the big drops aren't helping, but she can't get into the 100s without a negative reaction; even if it's a slow descent like from a few days ago.

The no-bounce zone seems to be yellow and higher. Do we keep her numbers up with MC or HC and slowly bring her down from there? I don't know if I want to do that and unnecessarily increase her insulin. It already seems like this dose is more than enough.

I really appreciate the input, but I'd like to hear what some other people think. Luna seems to be unique, so maybe something different is needed to get her better.

To recap, Luna's plan is: 5 meals spread out between shot and +8. Test when I can, but always AMPS, mid-cycle, PMPS, before bed. Try to get extra if she starts low or we increase dose. This morning she dropped from 456-276 by +6 and that was with 3 LC meals in-between.

Ok, I'll tag some of the others @Wendy&Neko @Chris & China (GA)

If you're not already following, you may want to look at @Jerry dutchboy condo - same kind of thing - bouncing and then lower numbers. Deirdre's dealing with a similar situation. Perhaps @Marje and Gracie can advise you on the feeding as well.

I don't see a post for today, so replying here. The way to reduce bouncing is to prevent steep drops and get them used to lower numbers, and strap on the patience pants. I would NOT try to artificially keep her in higher numbers to “get use to blues first”. It doesn't work like that. At some point, when you can monitor well, you might to try reductions at three times under 50. Some cats just take longer to stop bouncing - it took Neko a year to stop bouncing to reds. Longer stretches in green is your goal. Bounces can sometimes be delayed too. I found the worst of bounce started three cycles after the “low” event.

What carbs meals are you feeding later in the cycle? Carbs after nadir can shorten duration, leading to higher preshots. Which mean bigger drops, which lead to bounces, etc.
