So this is the lowest number you've shot? I know the protocol for SLGS says not to shoot below 150 if you don't have a lot of data on your cat... I guess I'd ask the following questions: Are you going to be able to monitor this evening? Do you have medium and high carb foods on hand in case he decides this is the night he's going to go lower?
Hi. Yes this is the lowest he's been preshot . I do have high carb food and I can test til midnight. It's 8pm here now. He did eat as much for lunch . Could that be it?
@Chris & China (GA) @Wendy&Neko @Judy and Boomer - anyone not celebrating Thanksgiving and more familiar with SLGS want to weigh in?
Yes, the depot is building up...and that's a good thing. He may very well go down tonight and surf the lagoon! An exciting time for you...as you'll have to test if he starts dropping...and you'll have to keep testing as long as the numbers are going down...and you'll want to feed him based on how much he's dropping. I've tagged some other members here who may be able to stay with you tonight...I go to bed early because I'm up before the sun every day...
Uh oh... Well, the depot may still be in play here...get another test at 2+ and if he's gone up considerably you can probably call it a night - however if not..you may want to get another test at 3 or 4+ and see how he's doing... Since the 10+ and 11+ were rising numbers, all we can do is wait and see what the depot will bring to the party. With Lantus being a depot drug, the effect of shooting or missing isn't always apparent immediately.
Ok. So no more shot and just monitor. Will do. I hope this doesn't mess him up and get him off track. Just when we were getting somewhere.
No, the number one cardinal rule around here: Never Ever shoot again - ever. With furshots we never attempt to try again...because we simply don't know if some or any got into kitty...and the risk of an overdose is too great! Please monitor ... as I believe the depot is in play. If his numbers start to rise after one or two hours...then you can probably call it a night...
Hi Sherry, I'm on the other side of the states, much earlier here relatively. I can wait with you to see what Blackie does.
Beautiful Blackie, tomorrow is another day. Sherry, are you going to get another test before calling it a night, or not? I will be here in any case.
Yes. I'm going do one more. Thanks for sticking with me. Do you think he'll bounce or look weird tomorrow with missing a shot this evening?
Sherry, I honestly can't tell you. I am not experienced in this area, but keeping that in mind with the skipped/fur shot I wouldn't be surprised to see a high AMPS. And...Blackie could never look weird, he's far too elegant for such petty appearances!
Sorry I as not here on time, Thanksgiving Day in Canada. You can go to sleep now. If the +2 is a lot higher than preshot, which it is, it will be a quiet cycle. Likely some combination of bounce from today’s low blues or whatever he saw late cycle, plus furshot. No worries, he will get back on track.
