Alice continues to be a really cranky pokey cat. Sigh. So I have reduced eating to a minimum really... waiting for this 1.75u to build a little more action. Sometimes I have to get help from the sort of roomie currently here to hold her scruff gently for me. I don’t like doing that but I can’t argue with her about it for an extra hour every day. :banghead: I am already giving her a “last call” snack every morning before I actually get up, at +9.75, so she will stop being irritably hungry in the mornings (with her BGLs running higher). Maybe some calming spray?

So Saturday we will be traveling by car. I have her pop up carrier for the long trip (maybe 12 hours but I have two family and friend stops I can make along the way for breaks).
Besides the pheromone calming spray is there a backup medicine I could get from my vet in case she needs something to help with anxiety? Really really just in case?

(Testing the new travel carrier we received. I’ve had it set up next to me in bed for two days now so she can decide not to fully hate it.)

After all my IBD raw food recipe and pricing research, I’ve decided I wish, for ease of testing at least, that I could try some of the ziwipeak lamb and the ziwipeak venison. But it’s just SO much more than friskies. All the money I have goes to the bare minimum of maintenance on my car and gas, medicines, and the animals. The animals pretty much get covered before I figure out bills, but it’s so bare minimum. We are looking at moving somewhere where some of my living costs may get cut but not necessarily in a way that increases available funds. I’m so frustrated.... like being a Krebs who can’t afford the right school clothes or the field trip that every other kid gets to go on... except about her health, her physical comfort day to day to day. Something so basic and yet.... sigh.

Sorry that’s my emotional frustration pouring for the day on it and now I am done. I’ll figure something out as soon as I can so I can get a chance to try it. :)

Hope all are well. I know I haven’t had many chances to get back in on here and contribute more.... but I don’t think I will ever not try to educate people on FD. I went to a small cheap dinner for my bday and spent my time babbling about my diabetic cat to an employee. Sooo. Haha. :p

So these days I sleep like I am feeding an infant—in short bursts, 2-3 hours, then up to dole out snacks for fur babies, etc. Alice wakes me if she really needs something.

Guess I got some late sleep in this afternoon when my plans were canceled this morning. I’m sure I needed it but the extra hour or two of Alice not having a snack has brought us the glorious green 71 at +8!!!

What is your feeding schedule and how much do you feed your cat? (And what is their weight?)

Luci weighs 11 pounds - she eats her main meals at AM and PM preshot times; and pretty much at every test - look at her SS - she eats often. I feed her Fancy Feast and Tiny Tiger wet canned food - Chewy usually has a pretty good deal on that Tiny Tiger and when I order liter with it shipping is free.

I hope things get better for you Cassandra! Don't feel bad talking about your diabetic cat...I think she looks adorable there in here carrier...it's like a little kitty cave. I hope she can relax and feel safe in there when she's in the car. Luci usually stays in her carrier the entire trip - we're in the car for two days 12 - 13 hours each - and she prefers to stay in her carrier where she must feel secure - sleeps or stares the whole trip.

See, I find myself sleeping on a schedule like I have an infant! 2-3 hours at most at a time. Feeding schedule is hard. Yes someday I will have an auto feeder. Someday!

We are driving to Minnesota from Oklahoma so it’s pretty straight shot and I can (and will) make stops in Wichita and Des Moines so if she needs a break from the movement she will have it.

There’s enough space in the carrier thing that I was going to place a small litter box and I got the crystal litter to try for the road.

I’m actually going up there to see if moving up there will work for me and my babies—life is too expensive with the current living situation. But I haven’t moved my animals to a new home in 7+ years so that makes me neurotic cat lady.

PMPS was just under 200! Glad to see she is coming down on this dose. We also started a new pen.

Looks like Alice likes the carrier and it looks very roomy. Hope she is very calm on your trip.
I feed Scooter at shot time, +2, +4, +6 on both cycles with an auto feeder. He gets roughly equal snacks each time. He doesn’t eat any big meals. This works very well for Scooter, but as you know ECID.
