Anyone feeding Primal unhappy with the food? It’s been removed from Susan Thixton’s 2020 list but she won’t disclose why. I’m using it and Small Batch and was going to try the venison for Mocha who has been on duck for a long time. She can’t eat turkey, chicken, and possibly not pork and beef due to EGC. And I’d like to find a second food. Most seem to only make the four. Her sister doesn’t have the problem and has done fine rotating the two brands. Thanks for any experiences with Primal both positive and negative.

I also noticed Susan removed Primal after them being on the list several years. A friend of mine has been feeding Primal and her cat, Livia’s brother, has started vomiting on it regardless of the protein. She has taken him off and tried a different food.....I believe it is called Small’s Pet Food (the dehydrated form). It is on a Susan’s list but some of the ingredients come from China.

Have you thought about just buying the ground meats you want and adding EZ Complete from FoodFurLife?

Thanks for the info Marje. I’ve thought about making my own but not sure where I would get the protein. I need rabbit, venison, and others that aren’t chicken, turkey, beef, or pork. I just bought some Small Batch rabbit but it’s pricy, $35 for 3 pounds and only 35 calories an ounce. I’m considering trying the rabbit for three months and then back to duck.

The pet store suggested Steve’s but the ones they have are for dogs and cats. That doesn’t seem right.

I hope you Mike, and your family are doing well and have a great holiday season. Looks like you are having fun traveling. :):bighug:

Have you ever checked into Soul’y Raw? She can do custom grinds so if what you want isn’t listed on the website, just call her. She ground up some goat and fedex’d it to me when my local goat supplier quit carrying it. She carries boneless rabbit for $8/lb so a little less than what you are paying at Small Batch. In actuality, the meats I buy at Sprouts are about that if I get them on sale.

I buy ground, frozen lamb, venison, elk, bison at Sprouts. There is one near you on Sepulveda Blvd. The venison and elk I buy are Durham Ranch...excellent quality but the lamb and bison are as well.

Yes...we’ve been having lots of fun traveling. Finally found some live-in petsitters who have been excellent! Who knows...maybe one day I’ll pop into LA when Mike has an overnight there!
