I was finally able to get a blood glucose test done but now I don't remember how to get to his spreadsheet.
He has been at the vets for the last 10 days because we had a cruise with my sister and he just came home today it was high but not sure if he might still be under stress. He is currently receiving 2u of Prozinc. Not sure what time they gave him his shot, but his BG was 312 this afternoon at around 2:15. The vet did say he ran high most of the time we were gone and wants me to increase to 2.5u. Decided to just put my fear behind me and try again. If he was human there would be no question whether we would test BG or not, why would it be any different with a cat. Oddly enough he didn't even fight me folded his ear a couple times before I poked him but that was all and after I was proud of him and me. I will check him again just before I feed him at 5 then will give him his shot at 5:30. When should I check him again.

Saw the link to his SS in my post tried to add the test I just did but the link is not editable

On the spreadsheet, go into Google Drive. Your spreadsheet should be there to edit. Make sure you're signed in too

So I did a test before food and shot. The reading was 471 on the meter. I'm a bit freaked out to see such a high number. He is on prozinc vet just increased him to 2.5u had to eyeball the .5. When should I test him again???

It's going to take some time to get better numbers. More insulin isn't always the answer. What are you feeding?

It would also help if you'd fill out your "Signature" (the stuff you see below all our comments) so we don't have to keep asking the same questions. The signature is where you have your spreadsheet link now. You just need to add more info like:

Your name/Cat's name, age, sex, date of diagnosis, type of insulin, type of meter, type of food, any other health issues or meds? and a general location.

There's really no such thing as "too many tests", but I'd try to get at least a +2 and a "before bed" test

If you're in the US, you can get U40 insulin syringes with half unit markings HERE

Thank you for information on the syringes. I added to my signature. I have been adding the Fancy Feast Chicken Pate to his dry food while lowering the amount of dry he gets. I didn't want to change his food before I was able to test. This weekend I am off and am going to try to convert him to Fancy Feast completely. Unsure if I should stop the insulin and just monitor him or maybe drop down to 1u while I make the change and monitor him too see how it goes. Any suggestions would be appreciated. I won't be able to get any night time readings the next 4 nights. Husband is doing the injections and won't do the BG test. The +2 was 355 down from the 471

Can you get another test at maybe +4 tonight? That's a pretty significant drop for so early in the cycle

I will leave it to other, more experienced, members comment about a quick stopping of dry food over the weekend, monitoring, and dosing.
For reference, I did a quick check of Nutro Adult Indoor Chicken dry food – 36% carbs.

There are excellent suggestions on transitioning from dry to wet here:
Perhaps you could try a few of them in the days leading up to the weekend. Freezed dried treats are low carb and can be crushed and sprinkled on top of wet food.

Yes I had planned on monitoring throughout the night since I'm transitioning from a.m. (vacation) back to p.m. (work nights).

This is useful information that could go in your signature.

The +4 was back up slightly to 374. Are we bouncing or is that normal?

Without more tests, it's impossible to know what's going on yet. You need to hold the dose for a few days while testing (unless he were to drop too low...under 50 on a human meter) and gather some data.

If you post daily, we'll be able to give you more advice as you get more tests in!

But one nice thing!...You have permission to get some sleep tonight!! Trust me, later on in the sugardance, you're going to wish you had a "night off" to sleep!

This morning he was back up to 491 before his meal and shot.

I work tonight from 5pm to 5am and husband will give night time food and shot so won't be able to get any readings tonight. I will get some before I go to work.

He is such a good Kitty about this whole thing. Do you think they understand we are just trying to help them. I am giving him Purely Fancy Feast treats and he comes for the test when I get everything ready jumps up into the chair and sits through it just for that treat.
