My cat had a hypo episode and then swung to nearly 700 BG. He’s back now to a BG of 260 and from what was observed he was doing okay. Normal bathroom, definitely not diarrhea. I was just sitting with him and he got up, walked to a corner and had diarrhea that had a very small amount of blood in it. Is that necessarily an emergency or could it be from the huge swings in BG? We’re relatively new to all of this and still trying to figure it out.

Hi Hayley I'm sorry no one was around to respond to your message yesterday. A little blood in diarrhea is not uncommon for cats, and does not necessarily indicate an emergency. I would keep an eye on it and see if it clears up today. If it continues or becomes more frequent, it may warrant a trip to the vet. They will often prescribe metronidazole - an antibiotic with some anti-inflammatory properties - which can help.

Hope your fur baby is feeling better today. :bighug:

    I removed the 911.

Hayley....I agree with Djamila. Sometimes if kitty’s colon is a bit irritated, you might see bright red blood. If you see any black, tarry substance, that requires a trip to the ER for a possible internal bleed.
