    Yesterday 1/15 http://www.felinediabetes.com/FDMB/threads/1-15-yoyo-amps-113-1-5-102-pmps-242-2-157.224331/

    Day 4 @ 1.5 Units Lantus

Good Morning.....Last night I switched syringes. I am still using the same brand but I switched from an 8 MM to a 6MM syringe. The needle is shorter and after measuring several times with the caliper, I concluded that the Barrel of the new syringe is a few mm's wider.
So I have kept the same dose of 1.5 Units BUT I FEEL "YoYo" IS GETTING A LARGER DOSE.
Yoyo did drop to 90 @+8 last night which is a positive so just MAYBE this dose with this new syringe will work.....hoping.....if not Yoyo will get an increase after I see what is happening with his BG numbers.

Have a wonderful day to all and wishing all Kitties safe surfing:D:D:cool::):):bighug::cat:

Different brand syringes will be different size barrels. One thing to keep in mind is that. Number of units does not change regardless which syringes you use. What changes is how much substance is drawn up. Every syringe is marked and takes into account the amount of substance that is also in the needle itself.

So brand A (relion) might have more in needle and barrel than brand B (sure comfort) does but the units you give will stay the same. Does that make sense.

That's why you have to recalculate (if using calipers) each time you change brands or size of syringes.

Thank you Sue for posting the link, very kind of you......but I already had recalcualted and I did all the math using the caliper.
(I think there has been a misunderstanding of what I posted about the barrel being wider). But I really appreciate everyone's kindness and help...thank you!
