Thank you very much for your help and Spanish is perfectly understood.
Otto was 8 months old when he was diagnosed on 11/29/2019. I was up to start insulin with wet food to see if they went down, but it was not, their values remained between 300-350. I start insulin 01/09/2020 with 0.8u for its weight of 4kg, according to veterinarian.
I have thought the same thing I have injected 0.25u to see that with 0.8u it lowers a lot. Today I had to leave after insulin dose but I have waited and measured at +1 120. I was scared to see him so low and there were still many hours of insulin work, I gave him a teaspoon of k / d and I said family would measure until he arrived , and from what I see my decision to give him / her has been wrong because it has risen a lot, I feel bad the truth of not having done well.
Now I have the doubt that dose to take tonight to see if please an expert can guide me I would greatly appreciate it. Help!!!
Thanks to the whole group for help and support provided.

Hello and Hola!

When a new dose is tried or when food is changed a thing called bounce can happen. In short, when a cat's blood sugar level drops a lot, even if it's still high, the cat's liver can think the blood sugar is crashing. It panics, and releases a lot of stored sugar, making a suddenly high reading.

Your numbers look like it could be bounce. It's best not to change dosage for bounce, and bounce can take a few 12-hour cycles to clear. I'm sure you will get advice from more experienced members, but you might consider keeping the insulin dose the same for a few cycles and see what happens before making more changes.

You are wonderful for taking such good care of your cat!

How long until your PM dose is due?

What type of insulin are you using?

Me siento terrible ...

Don't feel terrible! You are doing everything you can for Otto, and that is wonderful!

Unless I am misunderstanding, I think you misunderstood Juls and Billy. They're saying it's best to give the 0.25 more time to work before changing the dose. They're not saying you should have stayed at 0.8.

Exactly. I'm sorry I was not clear. I think it might be good to stay at the .25 for a few more cycles.

Exactamente.

And I repeat: ¡Eres maravilloso por cuidar tan bien a tu gato!

10:45 (22.45) doesn't tell us much since we're all over the world....How many hours until shot time would have been a better way for me to ask.

I don't see Otto going too low. Normal blood glucose for cats with a human meter is 50-120 ….on a pet meter, it's 68-150. Which type of meter do you use?

And Which type of insulin? (just noticed it's ProZinc)

One thing you can do to get more people to help you is to post over in the Health forum. You can actually post in both if you want.

The ProZinc forum isn't as busy as the Health forum so if you're in a hurry for an answer, posting in Health is probably going to get you help faster.

No veo a Otto bajando demasiado.

I don't think the .8 is too much because it was getting Otto into blues (and 1 safe green) numbers.

What you're seeing today is a bounce. Otto dropped lower than his body is used to last night so his liver released stored sugars and hormones to bring him back up quickly. It can take up to 6 cycles for a bounce to clear.

Bounces happen when they 1. drop too low, 2. drop too quickly, 3. drop into numbers their body isn't used to anymore (or any combination of all 3)

As long as he's above 200 at his next shot time, I'd probably stick with the .8 dose but if it makes you nervous to do that, how would you feel about trying .5 for several cycles?

[/ QUOTE]

Ok if the values advise 0.8u I inject that and see tonight. +9 was 353

I know the Google translate isn't ideal, but you are doing a great job interpreting it.

Chris and China had really good advice. Trying .5 units of insulin for a few cycles would get you a good idea of how Otto is doing. (or staying at .8, if that's what you decide.)
