So tonight I went to give him his shot. I didn't like the placement of needle so pulled it out and went to try again. As I entered the skin he jumped. The needle came out and I now had appx half the dose left in syringe. I started to go back to fill up to full dose again. Then realized what a mistake that would be so just shot the rest of the dose. I felt his fur and there was no wet areas so am assuming he did get his full dose but did make a note of it in remarks and a ? by the dose amount. Is there anything else I should do on the ss to indicate an issue with that shot?

You might put 2.75 FS (for possible furshot)

Good call Patty! You did the correct action. Not re-filling the insulin syringe after a partial shot and possibly giving Teal'C too much insulin. You avoided giving Teal'c an overdose of insulin with your stopping to think for a moment.

"Better too high for a day than too low for a moment."

If you used an insulin pen, those partial shots can happen too. But then you are not able to simply inject the remaining insulin into your cat. When using an insulin syringe, you can insert the needle into your cat and give the remaining insulin that is in the syringe.

89 @ +4 should I steer it up with MC food or just keep testing him at this point? Pre shot was 440 pretty steep drop in 4 hours

I think I'd steer it up a bit. Maybe 1/2 to a teaspoon.

He seems to do better on this 2.75U dose.

p.s. Housekeeping note. Due to security concerns, there should be no location in the signature. So you should remove that "live in the central USA" from you signature.

103 @ 5.5 yes I agree 2.75 seems to be working well for him. Not sure if you saw this morning I did feed him some MC food and still good numbers tonight. He wouldn't eat this morning felt it was better to feed the 12g carb food then to skip.

Your spreadsheet comments make perfect sense. You're understanding what is going on with the bouncing.
Better to feed that medium carb food to Teal'c as you did, to get him to eat and not have to skip the shot yesterday morning.

You did a good job of "steering" him at mid-cycle with the food in the PM cycle last night. 2/9/20
Was Teal'c looking for, actively seeking more food when his BG's were in the greens?

Know you have a short vacation coming up. Hope Teal'c eats ok while he's being boarded. If it takes a little bit of higher carb food, 12% or so to get him to eat, then you might want to leave some of that at the place he is being boarded.

I've always wondered, and have forgotten to ask. How did Teal'c get his name?

He got his name off a character on a tv show my husband use to watch. Stargate 1 or SG1 was the show. I liked the name cause it is different, so we went with it. The vet clinic calls him teal and then c its pronounced tealk with a hard c kind of a k sound.

Yes he seemed very hungry last night after you had said to give him a bit of MC food I turned around and he was eating the food I leave out. That was when I decided to wait an hour to see if his regular food would bring him up. He did make a couple more trips to his regular food. Then when it became apparent he had not come up I gave him a teaspoon of MC food. Which he ate greedily (that's the only way I can think to describe it). He did calm down and slept at my feet. He also had a tired look.
Good idea I'll take some of the MC food, they did say the last time he stayed he went on a hunger strike for the first 2 days.
