This was confirmed by Purina, the maker of Friskies

From Purina: This was a business decision to allow us to focus on expanding our Friskies recipes in 5.5 ounce cans in 2020

We can only hope their new recipes are diabetic friendly!

Thanks Purina:mad:. The larger cans were making it economically possible for me to feed all my cats a low carb, wet food. Wouldn’t want that, would we...:banghead:

I know!! If you contact them on Facebook or on their website (live chat, email, phone) they have been sending people a coupon for a free 32 pack.

Might want to see if your kitties will eat Special Kitty from WalMart

Thanks I will contact them. I have tried Special Kitty and 9 Lives and they won’t eat either of them. They really don’t like the large cans of Friskies either, but they do eat them.

Is Special Kitty any good. My hubby brought some home from Walmart but I was afraid to give it to our babies. I left it out for the neighborhood kitties that prowl around. I was afraid it was low quality.

If Special Kitty is what you can afford, then Special Kitty it is.
Compare the ingredients in Special Kitty to the ingredients in Friskies pates or 9-lives. Very similar.

    Food Carb Question

I can not be sure that any of this data is correct. Best I could do based on the outdated guaranteed analysis from the old post.

"Special Kitty is made by The J.M. Smucker Company. This is the same company that makes 9Lives. We have previously reported that Walmart commissioned the Mars Corporation to create Special Kitty according to the standards for 9Lives and the two foods are virtually identical, except for the packaging." Hope that helps.

Anyone find an alternative in 13oz cans that is healthy and cats will eat. I'm not too concerned with the cost but after only 2 days of going through 10 small cans of Friskies turkey and giblets pate I'm going to have to find a different brand. Its a shame I've fed my cats this exclusively since 2000 when my beloved Luke was diagnosed with FD.
