Nice job on the test/feed/shoot timing! Looks like that's going pretty well for you...consistency is key with Lantus! 12 hours apart seems to be the best dose for optimum results.

Looks like Thomas might need an increase soon - you're past 6 cycles on TR, so you could increase anytime - easier to measure that 1 unit if you don't have calipers and since he's hitting those pinks...if you're able to test you might want to consider it sooner than later.

Thank you! Yes, I'll probably increase tomorrow. Seems like he's mainly sticking to yellows at least so hopefully with an increase I can see him drop a bit lower.

It's only been 4 hours since his AM dose but he's at 172. I have a feeling I may have gotten a little closer to 1 unit than I thought when I was measuring out 0.75 unit. I have to leave in 15 minutes and will be gone for a few hours. Do you think he'll be alright by himself if I leave him some food? I'm giving his lunch an hour early since I leave before that time. A little worried.

Test before you walk out the door. Leaving food down is always a good idea.

I tested 30 minutes before I left so I didn't think another test was needed. I was pressed on time so I couldn't do another test. I'll remember that for the future though. He ate lunch and I left another chunk just in case.

So, the past couple of days Thomas J. has been really clingy, especially today. He followed me everywhere I went and laid beside me, meowed a little, and pawed for attention. This isn't normal behavior for him, he's never been much of a cuddle cat (only every now and then). Maybe he just thinks I'll give him treats or something?
He also keeps trying to eat any food we eat, he never liked table food ever before, he was a dry food fanatic only in the past. He even got on the table to sniff what was in my bowl (chips, wasn't interested thankfully). He'll grab my hand when I'm bringing food to my mouth and tries to steal some.
Not that I'm complaining but I'm worried if it's a positive or negative behavior, not sure if he's trying to say he's feeling good or if he's telling me he doesn't feel well. Has anyone ever had this happen before?

When Freckles was first diagnosed she was always trying to steal food. Now, everything has baby latches and bungee chords on them! Bread/buns are kept in the oven. A big cutting board lays over the sink to cover dirty dishes. Her automatic feeder is in an open dresser drawer because she figured out if she knocks it down (we have dogs too so the food needs to be up) food will spill out. And... she's stolen toast right out of the toaster - that was the kicker! The way it was explained to me was her little body wasn't able to use the energy from the food so she was literally starving. It didn't matter how much food she ate, she continued to lose weight. When her numbers started coming down a bit, she started gaining her weight back and although she still has a ravenous appetite, she doesn't try and swipe food right out of our hands anymore.
