Good morning! Well it's snowing here, and rather heavily at that I'm still very sick; I actually don't remember a time when I felt so horrible. No meds seem to help for more than a couple of hours. This is day 6 of this cold. Yesterday I did go out briefly (only time out since last Wednesday). When I went out to feed the birds early morning, I discovered that the cold air actually made it easier to breathe! So I took myself for a drive to the edge of the city to find an Eastern Meadowlark. I did find two but neither were cooperative....what I really want is a shot of one on a nearby fencepost......that didn't happen After that, I stopped at a local pond where I figured there would not be too many photographers (or others) hanging out. I was really happy that I chose this place.....on my way out I saw movement and spotted two coyotes! I have been looking for coyotes forever! They were my nemesis just like both the Belted Kingfisher and the Pileated Woodpecker once were.....now I see them all the time so I'm sure I'll start seeing coyotes more often now Today's photos are of our male Pileated Woodpecker (that continues to dig his holes creating a nest for his loved one), a Red-Winged Blackbird, a male and female Wood Duck, and last but not least the two coyotes I saw yesterday. Thanks for looking!
Oh Judy, I'm glad you got out yesterday because WOW, look at those GORGEOUS pictures we get to see and appreciate but maybe it's not a good time to be out chasing coyotes? Hunker down and get better soon please!!
As always ,Great photos! Thank You We had coyotes here but the Village has quietly got rid of them. I love the animals & it makes me sad that people move here from the city & proceed to complain about any wild animal that wanders into their yard. They should live in a tall building on the top floor so the Animals can't "get to them" This area is surrounded by forest preserves,it's one of the reasons I moved here. Feel better soon!
Feel better soon Judy. Love the photos, especially the ones of Mr. and Mrs. Duck and Woody poking out of the hole. Snow?! Sunny now here but forecast is possible hail this afternoon.
Thanks Dyana! Yes, a Cooper's Hawk decided to harass the Pileated...not the first time it's happened but probably won't be the last.
Thanks Wendy! Yeah, snow. There was actually a bit on the ground this morning and great big fat flakes of it coming down this morning. But it's gone now.
Thank you for thinking of me Sonia! I am still feeling the affects of this darn cold! I believe my sinuses are infected and it's making my head ache and my whole face hurt. And I still have a wicked cough. But I've gone out for the last 3 mornings! One of the good things about photography is that I can do it alone, so I've been going to spots where I know I won't run into a bunch of people (photographers).
