Looking for advice from someone, how do you know when a kitty needs his dose increased? My kitty had his dose reduced not long ago and he does drop a lot sometimes for his +2 or +3 so I'm scared to increase it kind of but the last few days/weeks he stays in the 5 to 6 range which is still good but I miss seeing 3's and 4's. If that all makes sense. TIA
I think there's room for an increase back to .5 If that ends up being too much, you may need to practice doing something between .25 and .5. Have you ever considered using calipers? It's the most accurate way to get those doses exact. Here's info on Dosing with calipers
That's a cool idea. Never heard of those but they look useful for sure I'd just have no idea where to get them. Sometimes the markings on different syringes are different like the markings are off which i dont understand. I feel like whoever made the syringes I recently bought didn't label them properly and it's too far down. If that makes sense. He could be getting .10 for all I know. I could try giving him just above .25 one day and monitor him and see how he does. He's usually around 6ish before his morning AND nighttime shot and drops during the day but lately he hasn't really dropped so I'm sad and confused lol.
Yeah, when you use calipers, you ignore the lines completely. Makes it a lot more exact. Amazon, building supplies stores like Home Depot, etc....they aren't hard to find and not all that expensive either.
FYI, although I understand World numbers, a lot of the folks here are American and only understand mg/dL, so it's best to use those numbers when asking for dosing advice. Metal working or woodworking tool shops are a good source for calipers. Try to get ones where the "arms" on the tops of the calipers aren't too thick at the ends. Easier if you are using the BD syringes that have that ring on top.
