    Hello there! I have 2 cats, and only one of them is diabetic. I feed both of them the same thing for the sake of ease. It can get quite pricey feeding 2 of them who seem to be hungry all the time. I feed them Fancy Feast pate and Friskies Pate right now. They're being "snobs" about most Friskies. Their preferences seem to change frequently, so I rotate the flavors and cross my fingers that they will eat it. (I find it fascinating that they both seem to refuse the same flavors at the same time! Would think one would just eat what the other doesn't prefer:confused:)
    ANYWAY- do any of you have information about Special Kitty brand? It is available at WalMart. From what I can tell, it is a good low carb option.
    I sometimes go through 8 cans of the small Fancy Feast in a day. Even though it is not super expensive ($.64-$.67 where I live), it certainly adds up for these two.

    Any advice is welcomed!

    Also, I have not updated Murphy's chart in a while, but I do have his numbers. I just need to take time to enter the data...in case anyone takes a glance.

    THANK YOU!!
    Leigh

    Are you feeding 4 cans per day/ per cats? You need to figure out how many calories they need/day (cat weight pounds x 13.5) + 70 = calories. Special Kitty is a big NO for me, they had so many complains and recalls.

    The Special Kitty pate's are fine carb-wise, so pick up a few cans and see if your "gourmet" kitties will eat them and you'll have something else to add to the rotation!

    Ingesting impacted product may cause nausea with excessive salivation, diarrhea or vomiting to more severe symptoms including difficulty walking, seizures and, in extreme situations, death.

    When a company announces a recall, market withdrawal, or safety alert, the FDA posts the company's announcement as a public service. FDA does not endorse either the product or the company.

    I do remember in 2014 ish buying this food for Pie and she wasn't feeling good...i stopped because there was something on the news about this food causing health issue. The link i sent is 2019 so its not better.

    Thank you!! I will avoid the Special Kitty, due to the recall issues. @Lalkabee , Yes! They eat that much. I am not sure what to do!! They seem hungry all the time! If there is no food in the bowl, they eat the plants, fight each other and stay in our laps, on our desks, etc. to get our attention.
    I'd love suggestions.
    They are both big boys. Murphy, the diabetic one, was at 21 pounds when he was diagnosed. I have him down to 17 pounds. He is a large framed cat, so that is not as heavy as it may sound in a small cat.

    I appreciate the advice!! :banghead::)

    So it would be around 310 calories for him/ day. He did loose a lot of weight so you are doing everything right. Would it help to save money to maybe mix some cooked chicken with their canned food? FF is good but might not have the amount of proteins to make them feel full. I add a bit of warm water to Bee's food because she eat way too fast and try to go into Pie's food right after she is done, it helped a bit.
