I live in a small northern California town (in the Sierra mountains). I love animals and have dogs, chickens, ducks, fish, and of course, a cat named Clarence that I rescued from the local animal shelter 11 years ago. He was diagnosed as diabetic 2 months ago. I had no intention of adopting a cat, but he captured my heart and I have no regrets. He has been an outdoor cat for most of his life, but has spent a lot more time indoors in the past few years due to: recovery from a bad ear infection 2 years ago, recovery from scrapping with a fox a year ago, and now the diabetes. I do let him out in the fenced area so I can locate him easily and because there are foxes and coyotes around here, but he is not as happy as he should be -- he is a big-time hunter.
