Just a cat mom and cat grandma. Three in household. All females aged 9, 7 and 1. All fixed and basically healthy. The 7 year old is more than likely diabetic and waiting to see. *Diagnosis confirmed at Nov 23rd* I am a part time worker and have a camp working hubby. Three adult son's, 5 grandchildren. Live in Edmonton Alberta.

Shadow is the 7yr old with diabetes. She has had one litter before we had her spayed. She displayed diabetic symptoms about middle of September, weight loss, insane amount of urination and inappropriate urination wherever she may be at the time she needed to go. Symptoms slightly masked by the fact her and my son just moved back in with us after being on their own for two years. She is now back with her Mama as well as one we added to the cat family after they moved out. It is a high stress situation for her but we do keep them separate as best as we can and rotate their spaces, until she is healthy and they don't want to attack each other.

There is alot going on. Shadow. Is doing well with her numbers though (I am working on the spreadsheet and trying to become confident with it) her pre meal, pre shot numbers are from 11.6-12.6 consistently, she was prescribed 2 units twice daily but after reading alot here we use 1 unit twice daily. She's been on the insulin now for 4 days. Responding well. She has been on pate as recommended on here for 2 weeks now. We use a human meter called Bravo and she uses Lantus Pens. I think I am learning enough to be comfortable showing my son, her actual owner how to give the shot when he's home from his camp job. He works 2 weeks on and 2 off and also has been recently diagnosed with diabetes which is sooooo ironic.

Jennifer Bittman Grandma to Shadow as she's my son's cat but he works a camp job, Shadow is a 7y/f. Official diagnosis on Nov 23rd. Other bloodwork and tests showed no other issues. She's on Lantus 100u Solostar pen, 1unit x 2 a day. Already on pate. Bravo human meter
