Mum to nine cats over 21 years, seven have now passed OTRB. Bob (now 14 years old, approx) joined the family when abandoned in our garden just after we arrived in France in 2006. Joe (who will be 20 in August) is the last of our original feline family and is a carnaptious healthy old git.

Bob diagnosed on 16 Jan 2018 after his weight dropped from 7kg in November 2017 to 5.5kg. His weight is now stable at 5.5kg.

Insulin: initially 2ui am/pm Caninsulin (raised to 3ui am). 18/2/18 switch to Lantus (variable dosage to try to reduce BG). 5/4/18 switch to Prozinc (2ui am/pm).

Diet: Animonda Protect Diabetic (meat flavours), Almo Nature (chicken, tuna), weekly treat of fresh cooked chicken and/or fish. Rare kibble treat.

I use an AlphaTrak pet meter with Freestyle Lite strips (except when I run out of strips and revert to a human meter). I also spend a lot of time lurking in the undergrowth with a tray and a pot to collect Bob's urine for ketone testing!

    Signature

Bob's BD 1/5/05. DX 16/1/18. Started on Caninsulin BID (2u). Increased by vet (3u/2u) after 2 wks. Switched to Lantus 18/2/18. New vet switched to Prozinc on 5/4/18 (3ui am/pm) AlphaTrak pet meter for BG / urine test sticks for ketones. Current weight 5.5kg (8.5kg in Jan 17). Wet food, low carb diet. France, Europe (CET)
