Mum to nine cats over 21 years, seven have now passed OTRB. Bob (now 14 years old, approx) joined the family when abandoned in our garden just after we arrived in France in 2006. Joe (who will be 20 in August) is the last of our original feline family and is a carnaptious healthy old git.

Bob diagnosed on 16 Jan 2018 after his weight dropped from 7kg in November 2017 to 5.5kg. His weight is now stable at 6kg. Vet started Bob on BID dosage 2u Caninsulin twice a day. After two weeks raised it to 3u in morning, keeping 2u in evening, due to high BG readings. Then changed to TID, as effects seemingly wearing off after 4-6 hours. BG still remained too high and now Bob is back on his BID routine (3u/2u).

Bob's diet comprises of Animonda Protect Diabetic (meat flavours), Almo Nature (chicken, tuna), a weekly treat of fresh cooked chicken and/or fish, and (controversially, I know) some RC diabetic kibbles... because he does like a crunchy biscuit from time to time.

I use an AlphaTrak pet meter (except when I run out of strips and revert to a human meter). I also spend a lot of time lurking in the undergrowth with a tray and a pot to collect Bob's urine for ketone testing!
