With a heavy heart I had to say goodbye to my Lightning this morning. He has been in poor health for a while. I have been syringe feeding him for over a year and recently he was not eating at all by himself, seemed to be in pain when syringe feeding and he was drooling bloody saliva. The vet found a large tumor in his lower jaw below the tongue. It was time to say goodbye. He has a good live of about 19 1/2 years

I remember when I adopted him on 3/9/98. I recently lost a female kitty and was looking for a female at the local shelter. However, this big, white long-hair, male kitty caught my eye. He just pawed at me through the cage bars. He was found as a stray, was un-neutered and had a stud tail. I can say he was not a maintenance-free kitty. A few years after he I adopter him he became blocked. After repeated blocking, he had the PU surgery performed. That work for a year or so and then the blocking started again. I thought all was over. However, after the second PU surgery he never has anymore blocking problem.

    Hi Larry,
I am so sorry for your loss of Lightning.
I have not been on the board very often of late, but I do remember how kind you were to me when I first started with Junior and his journey with Diabetes.
My thoughts are with you, and Junior's are with Lightning.

I am very sorry to hear about Lightning, but know you gave him a wonderful life and a great home. You have such a good and generous heart to take in so many kitties. A year of syringe feeding takes real dedication. I had to syringe feed Princess (GA) toward the end of her life. She left me at age 13 after a very loving life with Mousey Tongue until he became a GA in 2003) and with Jack (until she left us in 2009).

    ((HUGS))

    Maggie
