Good Morning on New Year's Eve!
It was a cold--snuggle--night last night. We have a dusting of snow this morning, but more is expected. Rusty had a good night, ate almost all his nighttime food, and is now keeping warm in his little bed by the radiator.
The beans are preparing for the New Year's Eve party at our house. We will have a smaller group this year--only 11 friends (we have had as many as 22 in the past!). We will miss Rusty's Auntie Linda this year, but will enter her "new year's prediction" into the contest for 2015 (next New Year's Eve the "winner" will receive a gift and general acclaim). Our party is 3-fold: snacks and drinks at 5 p.m.; then people can go out on the town (our village has a "First Night" with lots of entertainment at different venues all over the village), or they can stay at our house and watch Johann Strauss's "Die Fledermaus" on DVD. At 11 p.m. we reassemble for supper (lentil soup, smoked fish, a ham, salad, champagne, etc.) And then we sit around for a few hours and talk and watch the village fireworks at midnight (we can see them from a window, but some will brave the cold and go out to watch from the lakeside). The winner of last new year's contest is announced. In short, we have FUN. Rusty will probably meet and greet his bean friends, he may sit with them, but he will also spend a lot of time in his basket, next to the woodstove. He is an excellent host!
Lots to do today, so we'll take the opportunity now to wish you all a Happy New Year!
