Found out today that my 7 year old female tortoiseshell is diabetic. Tomorrow I pick up the insulin and take her to the vet to learn all about it. My poor Boo.

These first steps are always very stressful, but we are all here for you whenever you have questions! Can you tell us a few more things about your kitty? How old is he? What kind of food is he eating? What type of insulin is he going on?

welcome, and boo will be ok! we're here to help.
please fill us in on his current diet, what he eats. this is important as we have a list of very appropriate low carb foods that will help his bg's (blood glucose) enourmously.

also are you planning to home test. we can get you the hometesting equipment you'll need. look up cindy and mousie.

which insulin will you be using?

what was boo's bg reading at the vets?

as the information comes in we can give you more help ok,
tell us your name too if you like.

    Hi there.

Don't worry, we are getting new kids on the block all the time, so you won't be for long. That and the learning curve while steep is very short so you'll be old hat at this in no time.

Feel free to ask questions, rant, or just post what's going on so we can offer you help, a shoulder or a new pair of eyes - what ever you need

    Connie
