Has anyone gone from Prozinc to Lantus

If anyone has gone from prozinc to lantus, where do you start. Currently my kitty is on 3u prozinc. What do I shoot for the lantus.

Hi Pattie - first a couple of questions. I presume kitty is on low carb wet food now? How long has he/she been on Prozinc? How much does he/she weight/and what is the ideal weight? We've had a few kitties here make the switch.

 

Wendy, She has been on it for about 6-9 months. She weighs 8#. She is on FF.

Do you have a apreadsheet for her on Prozinc? If she was a brand new kitty to diabetes, she would start on .75U or .25U per kg (if using Tight Regulation protocol) or .5U if using Start Low Go Slow method for dosing. But since she's been on Prozinc for a while, we would take that dose into consideration. If she's not seeing greens on 3 units of Prozinc, you might start closer to that, but if she's getting some good numbers on Prozinc, you would start lower.

She does have an ss but don't remember how to attach it. You will have it tomorrow. Sh has been on prozinc and I cannot get her regulated on it. Since I use lantus for all my other kitties, I want her to switch over. I started her on 1u but her numbers are terrible. Will try 1.5 tonight
