    Hello friends.

been a few weeks but lots of changes.
one of them is a cat.

Koala did not work out. And I really really hate saying that. I had to do the walk of shame and take her back to the shelter. She would pee on laundry. I thought it was just an occasional thing but it kept getting worse.
I am terrible about getting the laundry done and put up. If we dropped an item on the floor , she would pee on it. She would jump up in the basket and pee on laundry there. She even peed on the couch as I had put a clean load on it to fold. And it went thru to the couch.
I tried different litters which helped a little ( the cat attract one was best)
I took her to the vet, no uti.
I think she was marking territory ( ?) as she was very very possessive. ( very torti)
And from what I learned, she was having a texture preference.
My dh keeps a little towel by his weights and she kept trying to pee on it in front of him.
The final straw was we were watching tv, and I dropped my jeans on the floor and she ran over to them and squatted. DH grabbed her and took her to the box where she went.
She seemed to want the litter box to be always clean. I dip it out twice a day but all 4 cats choose to use
the same box. There are 4 boxes in the house and they all go to the same one most of the time.
She is back on petfinder but they didn't put any of the things I told them about her on her description.
I think she would be happier as an only cat, maybe one other . But 3 others was too much for her and she needs someone with patience to unlearn this behaviour.
I hated doing that but that's the one behaviour my dh will not tolerate.
The guilt cloud is still hanging over me. She was such a sweetheart , she just wanted to be an only cat.

I went back to looking and focused on kittens. Koala was over 3. (the oldest one here)
and I found another black and white young girl.... 8 weeks old.
    her name is now Keora.

i wish I had a barbie car.... she's starting to grow but she's been so tiny.
she makes me think of dr. tiny cat.... that's why i got out the drum set for a picture.

she has the tiniest little mew....
she sleeps on my shoulder, where she can feel me breathe and hear my heartbeat.
her only negative is i can't get her to eat wet food but i make her a dish every feeding time and show it to her
so she'll get used to it. She will eat a little freeze dried raw if I don't add water to it. I just can't afford
to feed them all freeze dried raw right now. ( i really wish I could)

Phantom seems to like her and eventually it will just be phantom and keora when and if my son ever moves out. ( who knows?)

I do have a question about male kitties since he is my first.
He goes thru really aggressive spells which we think is him trying to make sure he's the alpha.
He and Amale play so hard that it's hard to tell if it's play or fighting.
But he will get on the other's backs.
Maia who is the meekest one has to run to me to get him to leave her alone and she never fights back.
He'll just attach himself to her back and is relentless.
He was neutered the day before I got him ( around 12 weeks old) but he seems to still have a ball sac
which i guess is the new way of neutering.
This morning, I was in bed and started wiggling my foot to get him to come to it instead of jumping
amale, and he straddled my leg and attacked it just like he does the girls.
He holds on tight. ( thankfully the blanket was thick enough)

I just don't know if this is a phase or normal male behaviour.
    he's 5 months plus now.

I'm still reading and watching you. :D
    prayers and healing vines continue.

So sorry to hear about Koala :( I know it's tough to invest so much time and effort only to have it not work out. Hugs!!! :bighug: I hope she finds a more suitable home where she can be happy all the time. She was a cutie so I'm sure it won't be long until someone else gets their eye on her.

Keora, is just the cutest little thing and I love love LOVE the little drum set picture :)

I don't know about this being a male kitty thing. Miss Meows used to do this as well, but as a kitten/young adult. Now that she's older, and diabetic I guess, her playing that way kinda fizzled out.

Best of luck with your new, adorable family member :)

What a pretty name and pretty little new kitty you got :)

I wonder if they got all of the testicles during his neuter.

My kitten Jackson (who just turned 1 year old) wrestles with Ginger all the time. She is still alpha, but it's close. I used to wonder if it was playing or fighting too. I think it's play fighting. Or trying to get my attention at feeding time, and just "feeling their oats".

I buy my litter at BJ's which is a wholesale outlet and have always used their brand as it is inexpensive, but it has varying degrees of smelling like laundry detergent. One time it was so strong, I hated it, and wondered if they were putting some would have been thrown away laundry detergent into the litter. Luckily it was just the one time, and the smell isn't as strong anymore. It just made me think of your cat wanting to go on something that smelled like laundry.

I can't wait for more pictures of your new kitties. I love them! <3

I'm sorry things with Koala did not work out. Don't be too hard on yourself. You're giving her a chance to find a home where she'll be happier.

Keora is so cute. I love the drum picture. I'm not sure about the attacking thing. Hopefully he'll grow out of it.

((((Rhiannon)))) I know you did everything you could for Koala, now you need to stop beating yourself up! With her cute face, she will most certainly find her purrfect forever home where she can be the only child. Short of getting an Animal Communicator, I don't know if you'll ever know why she wanted to pee on your clothing.

On the male testosterone thing, I am inclined to agree with Dyana! Can they test to see if they got all of the testicle??? You will know if it's fighting by video taping and you cna clearly see who is initiating the fight. And also, watch to see if there is crying out by the one being attacked. I had to bring video tapes to our session with the specialist. And as I told you, I'm still having to keep my two separated. Buster will make that same noise a cat makes when they see a bird, and no matter how tired out we get him by playing, he can't stop from attacking K.C. :( The Animal Behaviorist had really long list of things for me to try though, so I'll let you know how it goes.

Such cute pictures--take lots, it is shocking how fast kittens grow up!

Welcome to my world. Gizmo does this to Gabby all the time. It's a dominance behavior. I either break them up or she finally yells at him.

    Morning Rhiannon :coffee::coffee::coffee:

I am sorry that things didn't work out with koala. But it does sound like you made the right decision, for you, and her as well. The new addition is such a cutie. Hope it works out for everyone!

    I agree with Sienne.

Zeke (4 years old) does the same thing with Sidney (14.5 years old). The one thing that does help decrease the behavior is for me to play with him 15 minutes in the AM and 15 minutes in the PM. It will slow him down a bit. I do have to remove him from the bedroom at night since he'll come over to Sid to snuggle and then begin the mounting/biting behavior. Silly boy.

so today I took Maia ( 1 year old) and Keora to the vet together for their free well check .
got stitch removed from keora's spaying.... and her rabies shot.
    She's been pretty lethargic since.....
    but.......

I tho't I would share the ugly of the day.

    on the way home.....
Maia had shown signs of stress at the vet..... she got shots too.

they were in the same carrier and Maia pooed in the carrier ( thank you plastic carrier)
so of course, they both got it on them by the time i got them in the house.

I took them and carrier straight to tub and put them both in the tub with me ( still dressed) , just barefoot.

    What was I thinking?? :eek::eek:o_O:joyful:

i'm trying to keep them both inside the curtain..... both are freaking out....Keora ( kitten) claws and runs straight up my backside....
while i'm trying to rinse Maia's tail.....and feet.....
i hadn't realized one of her paws is cream color so I kept trying to rinse it off thinking it was poo.

    got her done...
grabbed Keora and rinsed her feet

got them both dried off enough and let them go and washed carrier....

then started noticing all the nicks and punctures on me....

I guess I am officially a crazy cat lady now....
    cat herding... wrassling....

i found a food they all love but it's new and have no idea of it's data.
it's fancy feastDelights with cheddar turkey and cheddar cheese feast classic pate.....
i am hoping it's not a really bad one since it is a classic.
I'm trying to stay away from all those ridiculously high carb foods and hope it's in the happy medium to low end.

LOL I got to love your description of the shower event after one such events with me I place a thick hand towel in the bottom of the kitchen sink and use it as the kitty cat bath tub. Then when they are finished and dry I go back and scrub it down so it becomes the kitchen sink again, you might want to do that because it is a lot less damaging on the body the the human tub..

Oh WOW! What a day. Sorry about Koala and hope she will find her furever home as an only cat. The new kitten is so cute. Rhiannon, you need a less intense day soon. Maybe get one of those calming colors for your ankles!

    Hugs and scritches,

Mums male jumps on the back of her female and bites her neck like he wants to have his way with her. She takes it for a little bit then boxes his ears. Mum didn't get him until he was a few years old already so I'd thought it must have been because he wasn't neutered young enough - I guess not!

Lol on the shower incident. I jumped into the shower with Vyktor once after he'd got himself covered in engine oil. But I made the mistake of getting naked first, boy did I have some interesting wounds!
