I disagree with pumping air into a vile. When you acquire a syringe it is sterile, but then when air is drawn in, it's not. Then to make matters worse that air is injected into the vial..over and over. I don't think this is good practice. Each time the vial is punctured I'm pretty sure the pressure is equalized.

If the syringe comes in a sealed pouch, open the end and drawn the plunger out just enough to break the friction ( about 1/8 inch ) then push back in and remove from the package. It is has a capped end. leave the cap on until friction is broken and plunger returned. I always get good results from this practice.

    My opinion.

Want to add this note....watch the registration. It can start you high or low.
Observe the top printed line. It should align exactly with the inside molded shoulder.
Adjust accordingly. If the line is above you're losing dosage and below you're adding dosage.
The best syringes and most accurate and inexpensive as well are available form ADW Wholesale in Fl.
Specify ship in box not bag. Model number: for u100..Monoject by Covidien...#08881-6093-31

Even if you do not inject air into the vial air will leak into vile through the puhctures in the seal when you withdraw enough insulin to create enough differential pressure.
