Last Time at Tricia's House of Chaos

Both my boys got a bump up in juice yesterday. Today Harvey showed us what he thought of his new dose! [IMG] With impeccable timing, he did it as I was headed out the door with Minka. [IMG] Knowing Mark would most likely not be able to test him, I gave him a big spoonful of HC and told Mark to give him another in about 45 minutes, if he couldn't catch him. So we dropped him back to .5 tonight. I'm thinking his "perfect" dose might be somewhere in between, but we'll see what he does this time around before tweaking it. Cinco was blue all day, which was better than all the yellow that had been creeping in.

Cinco is still peeing outside the box. He goes in the box about 25% of the time. 25% he goes half in and half out, and 50% he goes on the floor. Of that 50%, about 75% has been on pee pads. I discussed this with the oncologist again today during Minka's appointment, and she still has no new ideas about it. Sigh.

Minka has been eating fairly well for the past few days. I've only had to syringe a couple of times. She's still really crazy about shredded cheese, and the cat food she's most likely to eat is still the Friskies Special Diet Ocean Whitefish. @Suzi_S and anyone else that was wondering where I am finding it, the answer is CVS drugstores! I started out finding the Turkey & Giblets there, and noticed the stores had the whitefish, too. On a whim I bought one can, and it was a huge hit. I have found there is a lot more of the whitefish out there than the T&G. What I did was google Friskies SD T&G, and that's how I found out about CVS. Then you can, on the CVS website, check for availability at local stores. They may not have it everywhere, but here in Northern CA, a LOT of their stores still have some. I spoke to a store manager today and he said he was unaware it had been discontinued.

Minka went to UCD today for her check up. Dr. S. told me she had been dreading today's appointment, as she was not expecting Minka to be doing well. She was absolutely delighted to find that she is eating better and that her weight is stable compared to two weeks ago. She agreed with me that the Pred is probably helping. She couldn't get a good evaluation of her breathing, as Minka purred during the entire exam and she couldn't hear her lungs well. She said it was too soon to do another chest x-ray or bloodwork, and wants us to come back in two weeks for those tests. She seemed much more optimistic that Minka might still be here then than she was last time. :) I am delighted to have the appointment right before we leave for Ohio, as that will (hopefully) allow me to leave her with some peace of mind that she'll be okay while we're gone. Dr. S cautioned that this doesn't mean she will get better or that she will be around a long time, but said if she's stable, it could be longer than we initially thought. The tests in two weeks will tell us a lot, since we don't know how long the mass has been there, and therefore don't know how fast it is growing. We are still going to take it day by day and treasure each moment.

Sasha has her eye recheck tomorrow. She seems to have no ill effects from taking the Pilocarpine orally, although she is drooling a fair amount - a known side effect. Paw crossed it's done the trick and her tear production is improved. I hope we can decrease the amount of drops she gets, as she really hates it.

DH has been able to catch Harvey in the mornings for a couple days in a row. Seems we go two on and two off. I have a discussion with Harvey about it every night before I go to bed, but I don't think it's making an impact! He got me good last night - he jerked his head right as DH poked him, so we had a gusher, and he shook his head, spraying me and the bathroom with blood! I don't know how Mark managed to not get any on him!

Thanks to everyone that visited our last condo and offered support. I'm sorry I'm not able to visit as much as I'd like. I am thinking of all of you and I check on you as much as I can.

We are so relieved about the good news for Oren and cautiously optimistic about Gracie - what a scare she gave us! We're really pulling for Magellan to actually complete this OTJ trial - third time's a charm? Bron is on our minds and in our prayers, too. Sheba, please take it easy on your sibling beans and daddy bean.

Sending healing vines to all in need and hugs to all their beans, especially Suki and Crystal, Melanie and Chris Farley, Carla & her civvie Baby, Wendy & Neko & civvie Theo, and Marje & Gracie. :bighug:Prayers continue for Amy's DF, Lyresa's DF and DH, Marje's DM, Chris' DM, Molly's DM, and Elise's DM.

(((Tricia))) I was pleased to read that sweet Minka is holding her own so far and her meds seem to be keeping her comfortable. Day by day :bighug:

Continued vines for all your furbabies.

I'm really happy to see a report from THoC today!! I've been worrying and missing you but totally understand that now's the time you need to concentrate on your dear Minka

Wonderful news on her vetty visit too!! I've had that problem with "purring kitties" when the vet was trying to listen to lungs too...last time it happened, the vet turned the water on in the exam room, dipped her fingers in it and tapped China on the nose....she stopped purring!!

Harvey!! Your timing (as usual) is impeccable!! How about your give mamabean a break?? I think you're right though...looks like he's going to need one of those wonderful "in between" doses

Sure hope Sasha's eyes continue to improve! I'm sure she'll love to get rid of the eyedrops as much as you'd like not to have to give them!

Hey Cinco!! I waved at you last night in the lagoon and when I looked back, you were gone!! Hope you'll come back soon so we can have some fun and play!! I miss my best boy!!

I'm so glad Minka is responding to the prednisolone and pray it continues. Harvey sure sounds like a handful! Work that juice boys. :bighug:

    Go Minka :):):)

Hilarious about her purring too much for her breathing check, such a cutie pie

I was scrolling down your post looking at the Harvey recap and thinking c'mon Harvey you can do better than that - then I got to earlier today! Well I guess I was right but Harvey no need to do that much better let's try to find some balance ok.

Cinco - think green buddy, smooth green, flat green, a nice leisurely back stroke in the lagoon - you don't want to leave that hottie China patrolling without you for too long...

sending vines for Sasha's recheck, at least saliva on the carpet makes a bit of a change from the other offerings of late ;)

Thanks for stopping by, Suki, Suzi, Chris, Elise and Serryn. Harvey appears to be having a delayed bounce from this morning's hijinks. I didn't mean to test him at +7, but got confused about which cat was at the edge of the lagoon.  Guess I'm a little tired. Sorry, Harv.

Minka decided all she wanted tonight was cheese, but Dr. S. said calories are calories, and since I'm giving her the Missing Link vitamin supplement, I'm not going to worry about her eating the "right" thing, as long as she eats!

So happy to hear that Bron is back home with her loving, and very wonderful family. Sending extra healing vines her way.

I'm glad Minka is doing pretty good right now. I hope Sasha gets a good report and won't need as many drops. I hope Cinco and Harvey flatten out in some nice, safe greens and low blues. Sending prayers and hugs. :bighug::bighug::bighug:

You keep keeping on Miss Minka! As a Wisconsinite I approve of a cheese diet! Goes well with a vines appetizer and a vines dessert. Let your bean get the cheese; we'll send plenty of vines.

Sorry about Cinco's misplaced pee. Had two pee-boys myself back in the day. Pee pads, throw rugs, cussing, and lots of vinegar. Oh, and ripping up the carpet for hard surface flooring. Obviously I have no answers!

Harvey. I love you you know. Something about those bad boys that grabs my heart. But, um, enough of the catch me if you can games in the morning. And enough of the head jerk at test time! Got it!

And, of course, lots of good wishes for Sasha's recheck. What's a little drool with everything else you have going on.

Hi Tricia! I like this much better report from your household:). It's great you found some fuds that will work, anti jinx and paws crossed! Still lots of vines heading your way, for the pee out of box, catching Harvey easier (for Mark:p), the boys to do nice low blue and high green surfing with no bounces (and no cliff diving, guys!), Minka to stay nice and steady, Sashas eyes to do well, and appy vines for the lot! Plus anti stress vines, hugs, and prayers for all of you. Whew, that is a big parcel heading to you!:bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug:

Haha!! That made me laugh out loud! My vet wishes Noodle would purr, but she settles for the fact that fear makes her snuggle up to the closest body. Last visit she carried her around the office for a half hour. Reminds me of me trying to make my dads cat "Kitty" love me as a child.

Tricia- Glad to see a report from THoC! Nice to see that Minka is rolling along, paws crossed for her upcoming tests. Sasha's, too! Harvey and Cinco really need to get their act together, though! Don't they know blood and pee don't belong on your carpets?!
I have a bag of Missing Link here that I bought pre Dx that's no good to me now. I don't mind throwing it in the mail for you if you'd like to get some use of it!
