12/21 our ChrisFarley is gone

We let Chris go free this morning.

His drooling just kept getting worse, no return of ability to eat, no ability to poop. He was now lame in the back leg where he received chemo on friday. He wasn't going to enjoy life without a miracle and we couldn't ask him to bear any more to wait for one. He was getting pretty miserable by last night. He perks up so much when he gets to go visiting that at the vets office he just sprawled across us and purred and looked so normal. It was so hard.

Chris was such an amazing cat. He loved everyone one in sight, wiggled up to them rubbing, talking, begging for pets. He was our guest greater. When I'd come home he'd be sprawled on the couch, but would pop up with a look of anticipation, and a meow that sounded like "MA?!?!" and as soon as I'd sit down he'd sprawl out on me frog legged and get his big ol' barrel chest up in my face and run his cheeks on my nose and just PUUUURRRR. When my husband when sit on the couch doing work meetings via headphones, Chris would crawl up on him doing his MA!MA!MA! meow in the microphone and then just pass out belly up on him snoring away. He was declawed and then dumped sick. Didn't even dent his love of lovin' on people.

We are going to miss him so much. He made any day brighter no matter how crappy. He was a lover and an entertainer. A year is not nearly enough to have gotten with our big bear. When we decided to keep Chris and Cecil, my husbands words were "I can't imagine life without them." Those words are so true. Life without our big bear will have a big hole.

Beautiful boy. Thank you for sharing such sweet photos. Adorable. So sorry for your loss. May the memories give comfort. That spot in your heart remains for just him always, is what I believe. I have the same "spot" for my first cat, Zeb....nothing takes that away.

I'm so sorry, Melanie. Your description of him reminds me of my Kris, who also left me much too soon. He also was very perky when I took him to the vet that last day. He loved going to the vet because he loved people. It made it very difficult for me to stick with what I knew I needed to do for him.
