Its been a long while since loki and I have been here. His sugar is OK but he has some kind of infection in his eye, he is not eating its been 2 days or drinking. When I took him this this morning he got a antibiotic shot and fluids. I did manage to give him 1 teaspoon of mush and water. I an thinking of trying baby food the chicken with chicken broth. Any ideas would be appreciated. I know he's old(22) but this has come on SK quick I have to at least try.

You may need to syringe feed him, using a large syringe (20-30 mL) which you might be able to get online, from a Tractor Supply Company or other farm and feed store, or from your vet.
The food will need to be pureed so that it can be squeezed through the syringe.
There are suggestions for encouraging eating here.

You may want to ask your vet to sell you some A/D it is easy to syringe and high calorie-organ meat-
Baby food all meat is ok to but not as many calories.
I use 6cc syringes and fill a few at a time if I need to assist feed-- I find it easier than the large syringe.
You can get some from your vet or KV Vet supply-- I am sure other places too--
Did the vet give any subcutaneous fluids?? That usually will make them feel better and help flush out the infection. You can continue at home if needed...might want to ask your vet?:bighug:

Hi thanks for the advise I did manage to get about 2 teaspoons of baby food and water into him. He is just keeping quiet and to himself, he is happy to see me and purrs, but not eating on his own at all. The vet called and if he's not eating in the morning to call him. It's going to be a long night but I would trade it for him to be ok.

    Does Loki tolerate syringe feeding?
    How does Loki act otherwise?
I have had to syringe feed several of my cats for extended periods of time, One I think was for over a year.

Larry, the only time I used a small syringe was last night for water and some baby chicken food , he did ok with it. But, was not really happy. Going to see the doc today at 3:40PM will try before to give him more. Thanks
