    Need some help?

    The following organizations are independent of and do not have any affiliation with the FDMB, but may offer some relief or help to qualified candidates. Some of these links are to commercial enterprises, some to non-profit organizations. Their listing here is a courtesy. Please check with the individual organization. Each organization has their own set of rules, requirements, and policies. Most organizations rely on donations to fund their financial aid programs. Be aware if funds are not available organizations may temporarily close financial aid programs.

    Financial Aid for Pets - Best Friends Animal Society provides a comprehensive list of resources that offer financial assistance for pet guardians who are struggling, as well as senior citizens, people with disabilities and people who are seriously ill.

    Speaking for Spot - Financial assistance for veterinary care. A list of some organizations that may be able to provide you with some financial assistance paying for veterinary care. Many of them are specific in terms of the type of medical care they will cover, the state or region where you reside, family income levels, etc.

    UK Assistance with Veterinary Bills - The RSPCA has a financial help page that lists some alternatives, such as credit based payment plans and some charities that might help.

    Credit Resources

    iCare Credit - iCare is made available to meet the specific needs of those pet owners who do not have adequate insurance coverage or necessary cash available to pay at the time of service. Ask your veterinary clinic if iCare Credit is an option offered by their clinic.

    AllPet - It is a credit card like Care Credit, but just for vet bills. You do need to pre-qualify for the card. As usual, make sure to read the fine print. It is a relatively new provider that looks to be just for the US.

    Foundations/Organizations which Provide Financial Assistance:

    Brown Dog Foundation - This foundation is a 501c3 public charity that provides funding to families who find themselves with a sick pet that would likely respond to treatment, but due to an unforeseen circumstance, there is not enough money immediately available to make it happen.

    Diabetic Cats in Need (DCIN) Compassionate Assistance Program (CAP) - If approved, the program provides one-time assistance with certain insulins and other supplies (including testing supplies if the caregiver desires) to low-income caregivers. It also provides guidance to feline diabetes educational information and sites on the Internet, hoping to get the caregivers on the road to "appropriate treatment" for their cats.

    Farley Foundation - The Farley Foundation helps low-income pet owners in Ontario, Canada only by subsidizing the cost of non-elective veterinary care for their sick or injured pets.

    Paws 4 A Cure - This is an all-volunteer 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that provides financial assistance throughout the United States to those who cannot afford veterinary care for their beloved furry family members. Paws 4 A Cure helps dogs and cats with all illnesses and injuries. Paws 4 A Cure does not discriminate against breed, age, or diagnosis.

    Red Rover Relief (formerly the Emergency Animal Rescue Service of United Animal Nations) - Red Rover is a 501(c)(3) non-profit, charitable organization. All of our programs are designed to bring animals from crisis to care and strengthen the bond between people and animals. Our Red Rover Relief program offers one-time grants to low- or no-income families, rescuers, and Good Samaritans facing emergency veterinary crises. Please review the established guidelines to see if your situation qualifies.

    Scratch - ScratchPay offers simple and affordable payment plans for veterinary care. This option is a one time loan, not a credit card.     Tails of Help has the objective to provide assistance to the Alberta, Canada pet owner facing financial hardship whose companion animal is ill or injured and requires essential veterinary care.

    The Magic Bullet Fund -
    Magic Bullet Fund provides assistance when a family is unable to pay for cancer treatments and the pet would not be able to have (or complete) treatment without assistance when it is reasonably believed that treatment can add a year of quality life for the pet. Funds are not used for past due balances, treatment for other health issues, palliative care or euthanasia.

    The Shakespeare Animal Fund - a 501 (c) (3) non-profit whose sole purpose is to save lives by paying emergency veterinary bills for elderly, disabled, returning veterans and others whose dogs and cats are suffering and dying and they haven't the funds to help.
