My wife is getting very worried about Snickers. She is getting sick a lot lately, and the last couple of days throwing up after every feeding. We hate to give her lantus without anything in her stomach. I've been busy and haven't taken note of her drinking habits either. We tried different food and thought that was it but still gets sick after eating her old stuff. Any ideas? Thanx.

She could have an infection. I would take her to the vet and get bloodwork run.

she may be having trouble breaking the food down....digestion.

If it was me I would try a little baby food (gerber 2 stage meat only) and see if she keeps it down-
If she does I would start using a good pre and pro biotic with enzymes like
Microflora from Herbsmith... it also has herds to soothe the tummy-- I put them in a size 5 capsule and give to Dre with each major meal (2x a day)
the enzymes break the food down and they do it quickly in this product.
I would also try different foods if she starts holding some food down--some may be too rich or fatty-

It could also be a GI infection like @scoobydoox said --
I would try the baby food first as it is easy to digest.

She does have a vet appt. for Tuesday, if she holds out, just for a checkup. My wife made her boiled chicken for supper and is seeing if she holds it down. Other than that, she acts fine, and has an appetite. Why do cats ALWAYS get sick on carpeting?? Maybe because we introduced different food to her, I don't know. Will try the baby food suggestion. Thanx

Cats ALWAYS get sick on carpeting because, being aliens, their space ships were carpeted. So it's in their genes.
sometimes you need a bit of silliness. :)

What is she eating? Sometimes, there are batch changes in food composition that are different enough to provoke vomiting or other GI upsets. And with dry food, there is frequently a risk of mold and insects.

She was getting picky with the pates so we got her some fancy feast which my wife thinks is the problem. I don't know, but she hasn't thrown up since yesterday morning, and eats like crazy, although we're limiting the amount she eats. She does have diarrhea so I don't know where that's coming from. I'm thinkin' she may have had a stomach bug. She goes to vet tomorrow.

One time she was getting ready to get sick so I picked her up to take her to the kitchen and she cut loose all over the place and me. Won't try that again!

Let us know what your cats blood panel looks like. Also, throwing up a lot can be pancreatis. My cat was in overnight for throwing up a lot too but no pancreatis this am after tests. I've changed foods too & have been using Fortiflora. He's going on gastrointestinal food now, other end problems too! Good luck & let us know how you make out!

Well Snicky had her vet appt. Her glucose was 150 so they're pretty happy about that. I wish we could test her at home so we could try and wean her from lantus. My wife gets to take all of her fantastic trips while I hafta stay here to tend to kitty. Guess I won't go on vacation until something happens to kitty. Her throwing up and diarrhea has stopped so I guess it was the food switch that did it. Vet doesn't have to see her for 2 mos.
