Jai Jai is OTJ!

Dear all

I think many of you may not remember me. I am Jai Jai's mum and is from Hong Kong. Jai Jai was in a very unstable BG level which was very hard to control even Lantus was in use.

But, I am deeply blessed by lots of you! Jai Jai earned his OTJ in May!!!! YAY!!!! He now weights about 5kg, quite perfect too!

Congratulations! I remember poor Jai Jai got quite sick and had to spend some days at the vet and the vet wasn't very helpful. I'm so glad he's OTJ and happy and healthy!

To those who are still helping your lovely cats to recovery, I hope that you keep your faith, believe that good things will happen when you are willing to let it go.

At the time I was busy with handling my chaotic life, Jai Jai was not in good shape. My bottom line was keeping Jai Jai at where he was: injection twice a day, low carb food, etc. The only thing I was concerned about was to make him happy, and loved. When seeing him not having drastic ups and downs, I began to test less, record less, do less. It is probably not for every cat, but Jai Jai took control and began to recover.

Then, less and less juice was needed. We shot at 0.1 for a very long time. One day, we just wanted to stop and we started the trial. That's it! Not a very interesting story, but I want you all to know that the most important thing to cure your baby is to make him/her feel the affection.

To keep him off the insulin now that he is diet-controlled, always feed the low carb diet, watch our for any infections (ex dental, bladder), and use the Secondary Monitoring Tools to alert you of any health problems. Several conditions may show up initially with changes in weight, appetite, thirst, hydration, and behavior.

I was gone on vacation for the past 10 days and am just now seeing this. I'm so thrilled to hear that Jai Jai has made it OTJ! Congratulations - he was quite a challenging cat in the beginning and can be a good inspiration for someone else that is new and struggling.
