Hi. Haven't posted in a while as Mercedes has been pretty regulated. I received the Young Again no carb food today. Her reading was 40 on the Relion Prime which is 40 lower than the vets accucheck. So she was basically 80. I fed her Primal freeze dried turkey and the YA dry. I just retested about 20 minutes ago and the reading was 47 (87). I'm holding off on the Lantus and plan on checking again. My question is can her # still drop if given no insulin? And what is 'normal range' for her? Thx! Just tested again and got a 57 (97). This is 2 1/2 hours after feeding

OK...the 57 is good, but I'd test again in 30 minutes and as long as she's still doing OK, test again in an hour

Without insulin, she shouldn't drop back down again, but we want to make sure before you relax too much

Numbers we look for on a human meter are 40-120 but if there's any insulin involved at all, once they drop below 50, we want to feed something high carb to get them back above it

Ok. Awesome thank you. I'll test her again in 30 minutes and once before bed. I'm totally ordering a bag of this food right now! :)

OK...that's still safe and you haven't shot

I'd just test again in 30 minutes

Just a quick note.....the difference you got between your meter and the vets isn't always going to be 40.....ALL meters are allowed to have up to a 20% variance, so there's no real way to compare one meter to another one.....that DAY it might have been 40 different, but even if you tested the same drop of blood at the exact same time, it could have been a completely different number
