Seeing consistent high numbers now at AMPS + PMPS for the past two days with the new dose I've been giving Uncle which is very small. I have only managed to get one mid-cycle test in and one test at PMPS +2.5. I will be able to get more mid-cycle tests in tomorrow and Saturday.
I am considering upping the dose a little bit tomorrow, instead of waiting 2 more cycles. Somewhere right in between what he is getting now and what he was getting before which was 2.5.
Does anyone think that would be premature?

If you are following TR, then you would technically wait until tomorrow night to increase the dose. Honestly, with so few mid-cycle tests, I'm inclined to think you should do a curve tomorrow (or as many tests as you can) at this dose and then decide tomorrow night if he needs more juice. I'm just not sure whether he's bouncing from lows you haven't seen or if he really needs more insulin. Others may disagree, which is fine. Just my opinion.

OK, I was wondering that too. I really do want to follow the TR protocol and I know from reading about it and all the advice given that I should wait 2 more cycles.
I just want my boy to feel better SOON and stay out of the reds. I can be patient and wait one more day though.

Actually, assuming you gave .1 units on the night of the 25th (you have a ?), tomorrow morning is the sixth cycle on this dose, so you could increase tomorrow night. However, if you think you didn't get all the insulin in, then you would wait two more cycles. I'm inclined to think he got his juice, since he did go down at +2.5.

Hang in there. I know it's hard. But we have a saying here: this is a marathon, not a sprint. It's really true.

Sorry, the ? is probably confusing. I meant that as a cue that the dose is probably imprecise given that I am doing my best guess about what .1 is. However I have been very consistent in drawing it up exactly the same each time. I eventually just abandoned using the question mark altogether. I will take it off of there so no one else wonders...
Thanks for the reminder too, with only 3 legs Uncle is probably better at marathons anyway. I'll take my cue from him!

Barbara....if you want to try to follow TR, it's very important that you get at least 3 tests a day in....preferably 4 if there's a way you can do it.

It's vital to know how low Uncle is going.....and the only way to do that is to get those tests in. The PM cycle is even more important than the AM (because most cats go lower at night)

Some great ideas about doing TR with a Full time job here

When we first started, I had to be out early more often than not, so as much as I hate mornings, I switched China to a 6am shot schedule so I could at least get a +2 or +3 before I'd have to leave and from those numbers, I'd know if I needed to leave some medium or high carb out for her (if I was going to be gone for awhile) so she'd be safe. ...then shoot again at 6pm lets me test up to +6 easily since I'm always up until at least midnight anyway

Right now, I think you're probably going to need to go back up to the .25 dose soon since it doesn't look like the .1 is going to hack it

Thanks for all that. Yep, more testing in order and more than likely more insulin on the way.
