I love that I can write about poop and people will be interested...haha! ;)

I had a pretty stressful Thanksgiving weekend, as Wiley's vet was closed all 4 days and he had crazy diarrhea (with blood) for the entire weekend. But he had no other symptoms - no vomiting, ate fairly well, normal energy level. So I never took him to the ER. I fed him a lot of SEB... not sure if that helped but the diarrhea stopped on Sunday night. I still can't really tell if he was constipated or not. He has had some soft stools this week, but they are pretty well formed and he has been pooping about once per day. I am pretty relieved, however he did manage to lose another .5 lb in just 5 days. (I have a scale that sits under the litter box and monitors each cat's litter box visit and weight). I am concerned about his continued weight loss. I think I might take him back in to the vet soon to see how his BW looks. What is the preferred appetite stimulant? I'm wondering if I should talk to the vet about prescribing one.

On Wednesday this week, my civie Aspen had a dental appointment. It went fine, but after I brought him home Wiley was really aggressive towards Aspen. He hissed, swatted and generally bullied him. As of today, the hissing/swatting has stopped, but he still won't get near Aspen. I would have thought that the "vet smell" would have dissipated by now. I have no idea why Wiley is still acting this way. Has anyone else experienced this?

Sending good thoughts to everyone... :bighug::bighug::bighug:

    Bumping you up,
My cats often act that way toward each other after one has been at the vet, I always figured it had to do with vet smell too...

I've used both Mirtazapine and Cyproheptadine. I prefer Cypro. You can dose it more often (twice a day as opposed to once every three days), and it doesn't make my cats as hyper as Mirtz. There is a reason we call Mirtz "Meowzapine"! :p

I'm so glad the bloody diarrhea stopped. That must have been stressful.

I have never experienced a reaction like you described after a vet visit, but my cats were not that close to begin with. I have heard of others that experienced it. How long it lasts can depend on what was done and how completely the cat grooms the smell away.

    Good poop update.

If they continue to be hissy with each other, maybe trying some feliway might help??

Or brush them with the same brush, alternating back and forth, so they smell like each other.

I'm glad the bloody diarrhea cleared up. I hope you can get him to eat more. It sounds like vetty smell at first, but I think it would be gone by now too. I hope they start getting along again.

Thanks everyone! Wiley let Aspen sleep near him last night with no issues, so I think things are getting back to normal! Grateful for small victories. :cat:

Thanks! I'm sure it will be trial and error with Wiley regarding meds. ECID, right?
